From the press release:

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed right wing Gavin Brindley to a three-year entry level contract beginning with the 2023-24 season, the club announced today.

Since Brindley is still 19 (by September 15 of this year), his ELC will slide and the first year won't get burned unlike for some of the recent signings.

Looks like Brindley's first year does get burned because he turns 20 before December 31st.

Thank you for the update. Was trying to figure out why they would sign him just to only give him one game and burn a year.

Sometimes that's just the price to get guys to sign. Maybe somebody more savvy with the CBA can help me out here. I thought somebody in Brindley's case would need to play 10+ NHL games or he'd have his ELC slide like Clayton Keller (July 1998). But I looked up Charlie McAvoy (December 1997) and he was able to burn his first year without needing 10+ games. Reading an article that says as long as the player turns 20 before December 31 the first year can get burned without 10 games.

The CBA always makes my brain hurt.

Brindley will burn the year now that the contract is signed because he turns 20 this year. If he was a Jan birthday of 05, he would have slid, for example.

Keller signed in March of 2017. He was 18 then. So it slid.

Brindley is a personal favorite player of mine. A lot of players with his feet don't have the hockey sense that he does. His work ethic will play up and down the lineup so even if the offense doesn't translate (I think it will) I see him making an impact regardless.
seen him play for the last 7 years. he will be a solid nhl player.

Guess the Michigan boys slept on it and decided "running it back" is kinda dumb and they're ready to go be millionaires.

I have no clue if his game will transfer to the pros, but he looked great in college. Stankoven v2
