Columbus receives: ROR,
Buffalo receives: Columbus 2018 1st (18th overall),Ryan Murray, Nick Foligno

CBJ gets ROR to solidify a solid 1 2 punch down the middle. They get rid of Foligno's contract while he's still a decent player. Buffalo gets a mid 1st, Ryan Murray who needs a change of scenery, and Foligno who is still a good middle 6 option despite being overpaid which doesn't hurt them since his contract is up at the same time as Dahlin's ELC.

christ that's awful.

Take Nutivaara out and it's still bad for Columbus, he might be the best player in the deal.

So Columbus is giving up a top four defenseman on a sweet deal, Alex Wennberg, a 1st, Nick Foligno for ROR.

Dallas gives up a 1st for Wennberg.

This makes zero sense. Dallas runs away laughing and Columbus is left holding the bag.

Columbus gives up: Wennberg, 1st 2018, Murray, Foligno
Columbus gets: RoR, 2nd 2018

Dallas gives up: 1st 2018, 2nd 2018
Dallas gets: Wennberg

Buffalo gives up: RoR
Buffalo gets: ALL THE THINGS

Sabres fan, I take it?

Get out of here with this absurd nonsense. That is a massive overpayment. RoR isn't enough of an upgrade on Wennberg to justify his salary increase, let alone adding in a 1st AND a top-4 defenseman AND our Captain. You can start by swapping out Foligno with Dubinsky and dropping Murray, the CBJ 1st, and the DAL 2nd, and then we can tell you "thanks but no thanks" instead of "**** off".

Or, instead of dropping Murray and the CBJ 1st, drop Wennberg and any involvement from Dallas in this charlie-foxtrot, and maybe there's a discussion to be had.

I'll be the first to admit I havent seen much of Wennberg, but a 35 point center isn't really something I'd give up 13OA + a 2nd.

His 2016-17 looks good, but the lackluster 2018 is concerning.

His lackluster 2018 correlates with the team's lackluster power play.

It's a moot point, though - this team needs an additional scoring center, not a replacement, so Wennberg deals are pretty much out.
There's some exceptions to that rule, but they're so manifestly absurd as to not be worth bringing up.
