Thanks mods for organizing this!

This is where, I believe, individual posters come in and post their own rankings and tell why the collected group is so effing wrong about this.

It's a good list!

I would say that I had VV and Robinson a bit lower, I don't see as much upside there. Stenlund also lower. Voronkov is one kid I'd take a flyer on, I had him ranked just ahead of Stenlund and Robinson.

2016 I could not find archived.

Thanks D&S!

Also for clarity, and not to appear unappreciative, but I had also copied 2018, just in case people see the two lists and think they're different and wonder why the appear to match.

I had pulled it and saw your post, so I updated with YoY changes in rankings. Wayback Machine isn't helpful for the '16 list (which I assume went something like Werenski, PLD, Bjorkstrand).

I see the top 8 as offering hope. Not all will make it but if 4 or 5 do that works for me. Marchenko is a complete wild card in my mind. He will be a star or our next Filatov. From 10 down I see nothing to get excited about but hope 1 or 2 guys at least become good call ups or trade toss ins.

I’m looking at the list and while maybe I’d move a guy or two up or down a bit I don’t think anyone is outside their currently appropriate tier, even if they’re not in that tier for the same reason as others in the same tier.

I save my lists in the order I picked, but I also make a note of where the end up in the final voting, so I can recreate these several years back. The original lists also have rankings from HF articles, back when that was still done, as well as all the add candidates. So!

#13/#14 is challenging on this one because I accidentally put both Kukan and Nutivaara down as #14. The #14 vote for that year, tho, shows folks mentioning they're voting for Nuti, tho, so Kukan evidently won #13.

@DarkandStormy already covered 2017 and 2018, but in case anyone cares:
My list for 2017
My list for 2018

And, of course, this year's list.

the biggest drop were traded so that's something. also Thurkauf dropped mostly because of injury. the team didn't have much draft pic but at least didn't lose much prospect since last year.

Davidsson and Abramov would have tumbled down the list if they weren't traded. And I think Marchenko, Carlsson, and Stenlund all seemed to have mildly disappointing seasons - they only fell a couple spots because there were only a couple strong candidates to jump up from below them and we didn't draft anyone in the top 3 rounds.

On the other hand I think the top 4 all looked really good - Texier, Gavrikov, Bemstrom, and Foudy. Foudy dropped a couple spots despite having a strong year where he added to his game. I remember writing last year that it looked like we could scramble the top 10 list and it still wouldn't look nonsensical, there were good arguments for putting Marchenko ahead of Abramov, for example. This year you can't do that, there was some big separation. And that might be okay. A few high end gems is what we need from our group anyways, there isn't a quantity issue on the roster.

I read Corey Pronman’s list on THE Athletic this morning. I don’t know how much he can really scout all these guys. He knows a boatload more about hockey and recognizing talent but he’s trying to watch 31 teams and I’m just following one.

I find it interesting how widely different his opinion is on several players: Marchenko, Gavrikov, Voronkov and Peeke.

Interesting read for sure. I don't think his evaluations (as judged by his comments) differed wildly from the consensus here, though obviously his rankings did. With someone like Gavrikov, he sees the same things we're all seeing (very good defensive player, limited offensive upside) but apparently differs on the value of that to an NHL team. Also, I found it interesting that he dinged Stenlund for not producing the results his skillset would suggest but also had Marchenko that high with effectively the same comment. Age is the obvious difference between the two, but still seems a little iffy to me. I mean, Marchenko's highlight reel is unbelievable, but Stenlund's is very good too, and Stenlund's was compiled in the SHL, which is a good ways ahead of the MHL.

He also likes Kale Howarth more than us, which I understand -- guys with his physical tools are hard to find, though 11 points in 32 games from a 21-year-old college freshman on a not-great team doesn't really scream "NHL prospect". And he basically punted on Hjorth, shoving him in the "depth players" roundup while noting he hasn't seen much of him and he'll be following him closely in the OHL this season.

Not sure how much or how little I am allowed to share from my sub but this should be safe: Marchenko top three, Voronkov easily in the top ten while Vlad and Peeke are in the double digits. He gives his argument for or against every player rated.

He ranked the prospect pool #25 (AP tweeted that so I feel safe adding it to the post).

Thanks. I think you can post a quote or two as long as you provide link which doesn't help non-subscribers. Your summary is good. From what you said I'm guessing he is rating on highest ceiling.

The chart shows how the CBJ community valued the prospects, compared to how Corey Pronman valued the prospects in today's Athletic article.

I agree with Pronman here. Marchenko is a young guy with huge upside potential. The way he bounced between three levels of Russian hockey last year could not have helped his development (certainly not his stats). Stenlund on the other had feels like he has been a CBJ prospect for ten years and still just barely treading water at the AHL level.
