Just when we think this team won't win a game all season, they'll come out and win a game no one expects them too and look great doing it. It's a Cane thing.

This might be that game, if not this one then probably Washington.

I was going to say maybe the team could make history and actually win in Detroit but apparently we did that last year, so this game officially is totally meaningless.

For some reason, I bought tickets for the game in DC on Saturday. Don't ask why.

Because we're all masochists here for still following this year after nearly a decade of mediocrity with little to no hope to show for it? Only reason I can think of... well that and it's local but that doesn't count.

I'm gonna be up all night and watch this game and hopefully most of the next 78 games too. Because when we get better, I'll really understand what it takes to be great in this league and be really happy about it. I want to experience that. It's like marriage. Sometimes the bad times may last one season, sometimes couple more but you stick with it.

Of course if there's no Carolina Hurricanes some day that may change everything. It seems very unlikely that I'd be fan of some other team even in that situation. Well at least I'd sleep better then.

I already have my post-Canes plan if something like that ever comes to fruition. I'll be back to the NCAA game being my #1 priority for the sport.

I'll be in DC too. I got a 5 game plan for the Caps since my wife is a Caps fan and the package I chose had my teams, the Avs and Canes, in it. I threw this game on top of it. Over the years, we haven't won many of the games in DC that I've been to. It would be nice to get a couple of happy metro rides home this year.
