I'm a little surprised after over a day no one's posted a thread. One of those personalities renowned for Broadway but who also kept popping up on TV everywhere back in the 70s and 80s (her last role was a voiceover role as herself in an episode of Family Guy in 2006, she had 7 Love Boat appearances, 8 appearances on Laugh-In, and was a celebrity contestant/panelist on Super Password and the last iteration of Hollywood Squares). Her constant smile and round cheeks made her highly recognizeable, and as the linked article suggests, she was one of the most famous people to ever take a Broadway stage.

Most on this site is too young to remember her. In the 1970s she was everywhere. She started to slow down in the 80s.

I saw one of her last hello dolly performances
