Telling it like it was
oof, either Stepan or Svech really botched that one. That being said, you could drive a car through the gaping hole that Laf left on the short side.

Of all coaches, Rod would probably be one of the better ones to have that conversation. He doesn’t come off as a guy who will blow smoke up your ass, but he doesn’t seem cruel either. He had plenty of bad performances as a player, was around plenty of goalies who melted down, and of course as a coach he has been around Canes goalies at their worst. Seems like he’d look you in the eye, tell you it wasn’t good enough, remind you that it’s just start #1 of many in your career, and send you on your way feeling like a pro.
How about rising to the occasion for the youngster?I get what he’s saying, but look where Jack is in the crease. He’s not going to stop NHL shooters there.

So an aside.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to find/removed an old (30 years?) barbed wire fence? I found some in my yard today, and while I knew it was there before, it seems like its going around the entire border, and it makes me a bit worried with kids and pets running around
This feels like one of those technically correct answersDynamite

I mean its not that he's that far back. You draw a line from where the puck is to where Laf is positioned, and he's so far out of position that half his body is outside the net, and the half that is covering the net is stick side. Not idealIt’s a defensive breakdown for sure. The picture says it all.
But Walt is making that point with a pic that also shows the goalie sitting way too far back in his crease, inviting the shooter to pick his corner. Is it all on Jack, definitely not… but there’s a reason Andersen has been making saves in those situations all season and not getting lit up like this.
My neighbors might not approve, but I'm outside city limits so YOLODynamite
Sir this is a Hardee's
No, this thread is absolutely a Bojangles.
Specifically the parking lot.
I just think it was that Raanta was showing to have injury concerns yet again and that we had a chance to sign what was one of the better goalie prospects in the NCAA to give us another option. It hasn't worked out so far (in an extremely small sample size) but I understand the logic.Couple thoughts:
In the big scheme of things, I wonder if the LaF signing was realistically designed as much as emergency support for the Wolves as for the Canes? With at least one game in The Show as bait to sign (and maybe a "raffle ticket" shot for the Canes)?
I'm wondering if the Ayres game maybe gave the Borg an inflated sense of optimism that the Canes D might be able to support a goalie even as raw as LaF for a game or two? (oops)
That was brutal for LaF, but at least now he'll forever be able to say that he was an NHL goalie. From the look of things, if he hadn't taken advantage of this opportunity you've got to wonder if he'd have otherwise ever made it into an NHL game? Plus it put a couple bucks into his pocket.
Sometimes shit just doesn't work out; onward and upward.
