He will look good playing behind Slavin and with one of their talented RHD.

Wow that’s cheap, Gardiner needs to fire his agent haha. Good for the Canes though.

Great deal.

Gardiner has become quite underrated, despite his deficiencies.

Not the team I expected to get him but there’s nothing bad about getting a guy this talented for only $4 million

Interested to see the $ value.

A few on the Leafs board are still adamant that Gardiner is complete trash and there's a reason teams aren't lined up to sign him.

4.05 mill AAV. Same as what he had with us.

He's not complete trash, but he's needs to be heavily sheltered and given pure offensive minutes to be effective. As soon as you rely upon him too much defensively, you start to lose games (or in the Leafs' case, playoff series).

He should allow Carolina to trade Faulk and he could probably be fine as their secondary PP guy and replace a lot of the offensive minutes Faulk took up. Carolina will need to find a guy to handle the PK minutes Faulk had last year though, because Gardiner is not a PKer.

Carolina is looking to fill their team with “good but not great” players apparently

This is what, their 6th top 4D?

Such incredible depth but other than Aho and maybe Slavin there’s no real game breakers on the team.

Interesting to see how far they go this season.

Great value for Carolina. Perfect spot for him as there's enough to shelter him but also let him get good 2nd pairing minutes and run a 2nd PP. His back history might make for a questionable term by the end but AAV wise that's solid value.

I was expecting a one year, low cap hit deal.

Good on the 'Canes.

I don't think they need him, but good on the 'Canes.

Pretty good signing and right around perfect term/value for what Gardiner will bring.

Thinking Gardiner and Faulk slot ahead of Slavin and Pesce is hilarious and sad.

Orrrrr it wasn’t meant to be a game sheet for game 7?
