Stars are meaningless.
I know, but I'm pissed so let me complain about it!

He should have been recognized by the home "media" for the night he had. He was the only reason we were even in the game. Number 3 star at least.

Besides, you know if this was any O6/Canadian market he would have had the number 1 star, even in the loss!

The Devils out chanced and out rushed the Preds all night.

A stupid play where Gus started to the bench, Smith comes on, then Gus turned from the bench cost us a PP and led to their first goal 4on4.

Glass with over 18mins ... Barrie with over 20 .... no special teams time for Nyquist ... Jankowski, Evangalista, Afanasyev with 8:45, 9:19, and 10:30. If the GM calls up players to get things going the coach has to put them in position to do that. Bruno outcoaches himself again.
It was a business decision

Fantastic f***ing play call by Bruno out of the timeout and great judgment by Barrie to not read the ice and audible out if it. Who could have guessed they'd think we'd try to feed Josi off a won face off?

The answer to poor defensive structure seems to be to have more offensive defenseman play even more heavy minutes.

We removed some speed from the lineup against one of the faster teams in the league and got run the eff over on the ice. Not overly shocking but saros looked good atleast. Afanasyev didn't look out of place. Jankowski and Evangelista with 9 min nights.... seriously why are we doing this. Also kindof tired of needless hit chasing. Just seems like everyone is just trying to pump up their numbers.

Really a shame we have no other great skating defensive options to play. If only we had one of the top defenseman in the AHL who’s looked great in his limited NHL time.
Im honestly not 100% sure what we are trying to do with our defense. Schenn is... um... not fast or mobile. Barrie is not good defensively. Fabbro not trusted enough to beat out either of those two. Lauzon goes out there like he is playing a rink wide game of whack a mole. Carrier is doin well but has actual trade value.

Trotz needs to pull the bandaid off soon here. This is painful to watch.

The overall speed for Schenn is not good, anyone can see that, but his suddenness and change of direction was the thing that stood out last night. I am not sure if he was ever "twitchy" but he certainly isn't now.

Evangelista's ice-time in the last three games:

9:19
7:44
8:38

What a way to develop your best home-grown offensive talent in God knows how long...

We may not be getting our young players ice time but at least the on ice results are bad too...

Well our "defensive" dmen outside of McDonagh kind of suck so I guess you might as well have guys that can help score out there. It would be helpful if Fabbro would play over Schenn or Lauzon, but you know, toughness and all that

Schenn is just not quick and Lauzon is ok as long as he keeps it simple. He just sometimes gets overly agressive with his hit chasings. Lauzon ideally is third pairing thumper but is elevated to 2nd pairing with carrier. Schenn is ideally 7th dman you bring in when you are facing a team full of dingleberries

Schenn was billed as a bit of a enforcer, we haven't seen much of that here.

I think Lauzon's game last night was the difference between hitting and physicality. He had ten hits but there were two times he needed to be physical and clear the net front, he didn't, and they led to goals. The first one he just ignores Hischier and lets him stand at the net front for a deflection goal. The second one Meier easily pushes him out of the way to bury a rebound goal while Lauzon tries to crosscheck him.

He lays a big hit every now and then. He is an enforcer in the same sense that Lauzon is an enforcer. Lauzon has 6 majors Schenn has 2. Lauzon has 15.36 hits/60 and Shenn has 12.82 hits/60. Lauzon is just younger/faster/more mobile.

Depending on how long he had been on the ice in that shift he may of been tired. Laying those hits and all that skating etc is pretty draining.

Lauzon has been marginally better this year IMO but that's a low bar to clear. IMO he's also a 7th dman type and having two of those both playing most nights at a combined hit of $4.75M is not ideal.
