March 3rd in Maryland? The NHL is getting riskier with scheduling these outdoor games. The cherry blossoms in Washington come out only a few weeks later. Annapolis is a considerably colder place than Washington, I guess from Chesapeake Bay.
The California outdoor games were 30s celsius with humidity.
Last year, the AHL played an outdoor game (using the same ice production team as the NHL), in warm rainy weather (I think it was Philly's farm team).
We've also had extreme cold, extreme sun, the blizzard in Buffalo.
I don't think the NHL is really worried about weather anymore. They feel like they can handle everything.
