Odd timing but kind of brilliant. The Canucks control "Oh Mon's" NHL destiny and signing an extension motivates the Canucks to give him more of an opportunity hint hint.

Surprised it's a one way for both years but until someone shows me that the Canucks have some sort of firm budget for the AHL team I really don't care as it doesn't affect the cap. Regardless, at a minimum, the team needs AHL stars with NHL experience types and Aman can play C.

I've been critical of Aman in the past and I am waiting for Aman to change my mind. I am hoping that he continues to take steps forward in his development. Otherwise, I still think that if he's not going to produce decent counting stats he's going to have trouble staying in the NHL if he doesn't up his engagement level. Last year he was kind of a low-event player. Don't get me wrong, I do think the tools are there.

You all realize what this means to a borderline guy .. right?

These AHL NHL tweeners can set themselves up for life with a contract like this. A one way 2 year contract worth $1.65 M is pretty much as I made in a life time as a professional engineer. Even if his career fizzles after this, if he is careful, this can carry him for life. Happy for the guy.

After taxes, agent fees, and escrow he's looking at a around 700k I guess. A very nice figure, but hardly enough to set him up life.

To a Man, he's an NHL player.

There were several posters here (at the start of the season) writing him off as not being worthy of being in the league.

Aman is like 'free money' from your local casino. A sixth round pick of the Av's in 2020, and became a UFA when they declined to sign him.

But what's not to like? A rangy kid who can play center or wing; take faceoffs; kill penalties and a strong skater. The knock on him in Sweden and in early days in NA, was that the offense was non-existent.

But even that knock is disappearing. Two points last night in a third-fourth line role; and a PPG player in Abbotsford. Tocchet obviously loves the guy and was disappointed when he was sent out after pre-season.

But they've got some personnel decisions to sort out when Suter returns. Somebody has to be traded or hit the press-box as a healthy scratch.

Even without Suter returning we have a bit of a log jam. We currently have 14 forwards who probably all should/could be every day NHL regulars (even though a ton of them are on the lower end of that).

Incorrect.. lots of avenues to go down

I mean it assumes that Aman is going to at least “work” an average hockey player’s career and don’t spend above his means. That ~$700k bump can be life changing especially since he could use the money he earned from his ELC to buy a home back home.
