Kenins!

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have recalled forward Ronalds Kenins from the AHL Utica Comets.

Kenins, 23, has appeared in 36 games with the Comets this season recording 12 points (5-7-12) and 23 penalty minutes. He spent the 2013.14 season with the Zurich Lions collecting 25 points (8-17-25) and 40 penalty minutes in 39 games played.

On the international stage, Kenins represented Team Latvia at the 2014 Winter Olympics and four World Championships: 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Kenins also played in the 2010 World Junior Championships as a member of the Latvian national team.

The 6’0”, 209-pound forward was signed as a free agent by Vancouver July 30, 2013.

Corrado on Kenins: "Very hard-working, flies around the ice, finishes every check, brings a lot of sandpaper... but highly skilled"

Horvat skated with Kenins a little in preseason and in Utica this year: "He's got tremendous offensive skill... pretty thick kid."

I want you all to take a moment to truly appreciate this work of art. I inadvertently made the dot from "i" in "Kenins" look like a puck he was going to slapshot. I also made him the wrong handedness. I am a genius.

Fitting he plays against his former coach Ted Nolan.

Oh man. The explanation trumps the art for me.

I'd call this a trap game, except we lost the last two against the top teams in their respective conferences...

So what does that make this game?
It's still sort of a trap game. The trap of expecting to get back on track.

Would be greatly disappointed with a loss, but I wouldn't be surprised.

If they lose this game then this could really be a turning point in the season, and obviously not a good one. Would be great to see Miller get a shutout against his former club.

Probably the best player picture we have ever had.

Just some trivia all the way over from Latvia: ĶēniņÅ¡ means King in Latvian. :)

I think it's kind of an archaic version of the word 'king'. The more current version of the word is 'Karalis', unless I'm horribly wrong. It's been ages since I brushed up on my Latvian. (the new official language of ice hockey.)
