I feel like Cole should be getting more love here. Just shows you how quickly we turn on prospects.

As one of Cassels' biggest fans throughout his Junior career he's been so bad in the AHL that you can pretty much write him off. It'll take a massive turnaround for him to be considered a legitimate prospect again.

It's about balancing potential vs state of development. Holm is probably the most NHL ready. Guys like Labate, Pedan and Molino stand a good chance of seeing call up duty but have limited upside. Rathbone probably has higher potential but is much farther away in terms of development.

Have to vote for the guy with the best plus-minus in the SHL last season, who was also picked for
a successful World Championship team. I don't know if any or all of that will translate to the
NHL, but it's serious professional recognition of some sort, which the other candidates so far are lacking.

Holm seems a little bit like a Swedish Tanev, in that his boxcar numbers (not necessarily his underlying fancy stats, which I don't know)
other than plus-minus aren't impressive, but he's effective and has been publicly valued for that. Tanev's great plus-minus made him
stand out in the NCAA, however incomplete that stat may be. He was obviously worth signing, and with Holm the same outlier stat,
plus the national team selection, along with his NHL-sized frame, make it at least worth a bet that he'll find a spot in the NHL.

At this very late point in the Prospect rankings, a guy with Holm's Swedish accolades is probably overdue
for being picked. This is kinda funny. I really like Rathbone, but I can say that, as an alum who used to work for Harvard Admissions
as an interviewer here in Vancouver, while national recognition of any sort is likely to get you into Harvard, it sure can't seem to get you
onto the very butt end of the HF Canucks Prospect list :amazed::sarcasm:

Don't know how you voted since it was closed by the time i posted. I wanted to vote but couldn't... would've voted for Holm over Molino (who i was voting for before) since Holm wasn't on the list before (i think i was the first to ask for him to be included?).

Really a toss-up for either since both are likely to see NHL time next season while a lot of the prospects might have higher ceilings but based on probability, they're more likely than not going to end up in the same situation as Molino/Holm or not even get a NHL contract.

I.e.

Candella - as is probably wouldn't get his ELC. Carcone - Had a decent first year, i think he has decent potential but there's a decent chance he'll be like Grenier. Cassel needs a break out year to get another contract. Labate is only 1 year younger than Molino and is likely farther down the depth chart (and imo has a lower ceiling). Pedan... replace Molino statement with Holm. Zhukenov has a high ceiling but he'll be in the KHL for at least 1 season (if there's an out clause). Stukel probably needs a very good overage season to even get his ELC.

That really just leaves Rathbone/Molino/Holm so its long term potential (that won) vs higher floor/NHL ready.
