First poll with Holm? He's a sleeper. Better then Brisebois I'd say.

Gotta be Molino at this point.

Rathbone is so far from the NHL I really have no idea what to make of him. In that prospects game he didn't look like he'd ever been properly coached at how to play his position, and seemed to be playing wing as often as defense.

Although everyone here is essentially a long shot to play pro, there's at least some projectable upside with guys like Palmu and Rathbone.

Molino looked like a Bill Sweatt clone that could probably be a serviceable middle-6 AHL winger for a couple years before heading off to Switzerland. And at his age, not sure what to think of him as a prospect. We probably would have wrote him off by now if he was a overage draft pick/signing three years ago, no?

The idea is that Molino played on such a bad team that he would have been a 40-50 point guy in the NCAA this year if he was on a powerhouse, which makes this a fairly decent signing. He led his team in points for two straight years while the team was absolute trash.

I remember Mark Scheifele being a surprise pick at his respective spot for Winnipeg in his draft (he was not ranked higher than Couturier or Hamilton on any draft boards IIRC), but then you look at the team he was on and it's no surprise his numbers were modest, which makes them look more impressive when you project how he'd have looked on a contender. This is perhaps a college FA signing version of that.

Molino is Molino, but the mystery box could be anything. It could even be Molino.

Molino has not shown many signs of being a good hockey player for us.

He's fast and not much else, granted it was only 5 games.

Cassels has sure plummeted, does anyone even have him in their top-20? Haven't been able to vote much this year but going with Palmu here.

Is pointing out that Molino is less of a mystery box than recent draft picks really in need of hard hitting analysis in response?

Even with a much, much higher chance of busting, IMO there's value in the kid who had 98 points in his d+2 year in the CHL. Would you be okay with Benning trading Palmu right now for some run of the mill middle-6 AHL winger like Mike Zalewski? I would not.

I have read your post 3 times and I have no idea what you are saying.

I would never, ever vote for somebody like Holm or Molino. Never, ever ever ever ever ever ever. Never. You might as well be voting for Madison Chaput.

These guys, if everything goes as desired, are completely fungible players easily replaced without a moment of effort. At least someone like Palmu or Rathbone are so far away that they could take some random leap forward in a year and turn themselves into legit prospects. Using Virvitucus's methods, I would happily trade Molino for Rathbone. I would trade 10 Molinos for a Rathbone, and I do not know anything about Rathbone. Molino has utterly zero value.

Uh, agreed completely.

No idea what your mystery box comment means then. Are you agreeing or disagreeing with MS? Took it as "Molino is X and everyone else may never be X." What did you mean?

BTW all I meant is that Palmu had 98 points this past year, in his d+2 season of eligibility and agreed that based on that alone and nothing else... you trade 10 Molino's for a Palmu.

I see Carcone is still getting 'zero' love from posters on these prospects polls....you'd think that a 20-year old just completing his first year in the AHL would be rank ahead of more than a few of those graduating juniors who haven't proved a thing in pro hockey.

MacEwan and Chatfield for example.....there's still a chance both of them could end up in Kalamazoo.

Well first of all, I was making a Family Guy reference.

Second of all, I meant exactly what I said? I really do not get what there is to misinterpret. Molino is a known commodity. We know so little about Rathbone that I value him higher because the unknown potential makes him more desirable than the known mediocrity.

Which I guess means I was disagreeing with MS, to answer your question.

I don't think Holm should even be considered a prospect as he's considered a veteran in the AHL. That'd be like Rodin being a prospect still.
