Raanta will probably back up next game and start on Sunday. He was held out for precautionary reasons so it doesn't sound like he'll miss time.

People were expecting way too much too soon from him based off his college numbers. I had a really long argument with a bunch of people (not on here) on why goalie stats are inflated in the ncaa and how historically these guys don’t pan out. Always worth a shot but even the ahl would probably be too much at this point let alone the nhl.

It can always be worse, though. Some guys who’ve been in our organization in recent years:

Not to mention Spencer Knight, former 13 OA who had a decent start in the NHL but who's now struggling mightily on the Checkers this year. I mean he has looked absolutely awful the couple times I or my parents have seen him play. NCAA doesn't seem to be producing many good NHL goalies...Swayman and Otter are the only guys I can think of in the past 5 years or so?

His defense has regressed if that is possible. Also trying to integrate Orlov who needs a good defensive partner until gets comfortable, TDA isn’t a fit.
