I really hope it's not the pens
I hope that too, but I have a feeling that the powers that be at the NHL will pick them because they feel that the Canes alone wouldn't be able to attract viewers. Since the Pens are the team in the NHL. :(

Waddell told the Stormtrackers group a couple months ago that the Canes had some suggestions but the NHL would be choosing the opponent and at that time they did not have any idea who it would be. FWIW.

Can't believe all the bellyaching out there from fans of other teams about us getting the game. Dragging out the tired attendance stats, broke jokes and ignorant hockey fan memes again. They must keep them at the ready for any positive press we receive. Anything that happens with our team seems to be so polarizing. Isn't success here good for the league overall?

For those still wondering about seating I’ve been to three -

Winter Classic at Heinz Field
Stadium Series at Soldier Field
Stadium Series at Heinz Field

Upper bowl is great for this. You can still see puck movement and make out what’s going on. Lower you will lose where things are at certain points since you’re so far from the glass.

As a full time Pens fan living in Charleston, who has been a part time Canes fan since the Francis led teams took on the Red Wings, I’m coming up for this lets gooooo

Some pics -

Oh I can.

I remember when the ilk were screaming for the Predators to be relocated to f***ing Hamilton Ontario. Now the ilk love Nashville, well sort of.

I was there in 2011 for the All Star Game and the atmosphere was exceptional through the entire city, from downtown and the convention center to the parking lot in to RBC/PNC. If it’s anything like that for this no one will say any more nonsense about Raleigh not being a hockey market, and I know it’ll be even better. Over/under on the smokers in the parking lot? I’ll bring the hush puppies.

I wonder how ticket sales will be conducted. I assume it's not just going to be done just like an average game. Like if the league will be alloted a certain amount of tickets, the opposing team STH, etc.

Also, parking/traffic for some events (non NCSU football) at C-F has been a nightmare. Like the 2009 U2 concert. Better make sure that's shored up.

Beyonce too a few years ago was a traffic nightmare apparently, even though IIRC NCDOT advised people to leave early.

When I bought tickets for Penguins/Flyers at Heinz the Penguins made it know when general public sale would be. It was like a Friday in early December at 10am. It was a TicketMaster show from there, hop on and hope for the best. I didn’t have much issue. I believe both teams had allotted amounts and sections of the stadium. As always season ticket holders get first dibs.

I received an email or something like that stating we would hear something about tickets for this game within 24 hours. Unless I was dreaming or something

It’s going to be the largest tailgate scene of any hockey game before.

I was wondering for not full year STMs if this game would be required in the package like the home opener is? I imagine most would want it anyway, but you never know I guess.
Probably just like playoff tickets.

Full STM get first priority
Half STM get next
10 game STM get next priority

Then anything left gets released to the general public

It would seem they are doing the above, plus tenure-based priority within the STM groups (15+ years, 10+ years, 5+ years).

I mean we are talking about a 50,000 seat stadium here... there will be plenty to go around.

I'm going to guess that a lot of STM will buy more tickets to this game then they get in their STM packages.

Probably so. If STM are still around 12K, I’m arbitrarily guessing the average STM ends up with about 3 tickets (I’m arbitrarily guessing that the average STM package is about 2 tickets). That would account for about 2/3rds of stadium capacity, leaving 15-20K for opposing-team STMs or the general public.

If those guesses are close to reasonable, that means the building will comfortably sell out without creating a total panic over inventory. Resales will be expensive. Best bet for non-STMs would be to throw STM friends some cash for purchasing advance tix.
