Fine AHL vet signing. Not really relevant to the big club, I wouldn't think.

Francis forgot to specify he was still looking for an *AHL* top-6 forward. Boom, done.

Is this Drew Miller from the Detroit teams a while back?

Edit - no, no it is not.

Liked him on the Oilers and thought he could be a nice top-6 injury fill-in (played with Hall and didn't look out of place). Too bad management shipped him out.... he probably thought his future was limited with Edmonton having their top-9 set.

Yeah, outplaying 2 waiver-wire pickups and a guy who made $800K last year is an insurmountable task, for sure.

Yeah, outplaying 2 waiver-wire pickups and a guy who made $800K last year is an insurmountable task, for sure.

It's hard to say who will slot at RW since we have a lot of guys who naturally play C or LW, but our wingers are definitely 4 deep with guys who will be slotted over Miller (Skinner, Stempniak, Teravainen, Aho) and then there's Nestrasil/Nordstrom who happened to be the wingers with Staal on Bill Peters' favorite line last season. On a given night, Lindholm might be in the picture for a top-9 slot as well. That's seven legit competitors for six slots.

If anyone should get bumped out of the top-9, there's Bickell, Stalberg, and Di Giuseppe to compete with.

It would be more than slightly surprising if Miller, a 27 year old minor leaguer, was skating a regular shift in Raleigh to start the season. He would basically have to become a different player between now and October.
