I wish regular season ties were brought back. Why do we need multiple loss categories?

I'd rather keep the SO and ditch the loser point if we want to simplify it. I thought ties sucked.

This was the absolute worst. No other standings format is even in the ballpark of how bad this one was.

99-00 was the first season, the canes were the only team with zero otl's that year. of course.

same year ot went 4 on 4

edit to add - obviously the loser point changed how teams approached end of game and overtime, but based solely off the way teams' records shook out if the points system from the previous years had been used the canes would have jumped both buffalo and pittsburgh for the seven seed in 2000.

Yeah I semi-remember the last game of the season in Atlanta, they (Canes) won but so did everyone else they were chasing IIRC, at least it wasn't a 2008 or 2011, was rooting for them to get in but I wasn't "crushed" about it either (I would be 8 years later!). Would have played Washington in this scenario, we've never lost to Washington in a playoff series so I like our chances if we go back in time and give the Canes an extra win for that season.
