GDT: Canes @ Oilers - and then things got worse

We all know last night sucked, but in the words of one of my former universities most famous graduates "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE"

We get Edmonton tonight, and in what is surely the El Alamein of hockey, with Sabres-Canes of course being the Kursk of tank battles for the sport, we have two teams that are and have been absolutely floundering in the standings for a while. Things surely can't get any worse can they? Surely you jest, this IS Carolina Hurricanes hockey, things can always get worse.

PS, we're also 0 for our last 5 against Alberta teams now, with our last win coming on Dec 7th 2011 in Edmonton the day after our defense and goaltenders got shelled in Calgary.

Believe it or not, we have been through that. When we had a consortium owning it until 2008, they were evaluating whether to move it. And our owner Darryl Katz made an idle threat on Seattle at one point as well...

Anyway that is another topic, good luck tonight and this year guys. Tough with Stall squared out for a duration, no team could recover from that...

This isn't an effort issue. In fact, watching the Charlotte kids has been pretty fun. I forget who said it, but this team just doesn't have the horses, it's not really anyone's "fault," it's just a bad team.

No one's blaming any particular players on Buffalo for being bad. They're just bad. We are too.

The defensive unit isn't really young. In fact, I'd say Murphy has been playing the best actually. And they've been mostly healthy. But they're worse than last year.

I was one of the ones who said it. But that was before we lost 5-0 and looked in the 3rd like a team that had flat out quit.

Of course, looks can be deceiving -- but lack of talent plus quit equals multiplied badness.
