Massive overpayment from the Jets. Those ELC contracts of Samberg, and Vasalainein are going to to be much needed by the time they arrive. As Vegas has shown, you win now a days with depth. And this deal kills the Jets depth big time

IF the Canes move Hanifin it's going to be a one for one type move, so unless Winnipeg's willing to give up Connor or Ehlers there's not a deal to be had here.

Myers + depth does nothing for a team loaded with depth to begin with. Have to take in to account the Canes needs as well, and what we need is a high end offensive talent and a starting goalie.

Can't see either team liking this.

It's a huge payment from the Jets and includes 2 ELC's which will be very valuable once everyone gets resigned. Don't see the Canes moving Hanafin unless it's in a Jones/Johansen type move.

Canes fan saying overpayment by the Jets, but Canes also pass as it fills no need for us. We have prospects and depth. Like others have said, a 1 for 1 hockey trade would be about all Hanifin should/would be involved in.

Needs schmeeds, the value is so over the top in Canes favour here that they wouldn't be able to sign fast enough. This is a laughable proposition.

And no, Hanifin isn't worth either Ehlers or Connor. But that is another story.

As an outsider this seems like a really good deal for Carolina. If you can resign Myers he can replace Faulk who you then could move for other pieces. Perreault could replace Rask who they can try to move for other pieces. Vesalainen is a great wing prospect then with Svechnikov at 2 you have two top 6 wings in their teens on cheap ELC deals.

I always see Canes fan say Hanifin for a top 6 C but if Aho plays like he did at the end of the year WC he's your 1C for a long time. Necas is really good and would be an above average 2C for a long time. You'd just have to hope one of Fluery or Bean can replace Hanifin in the top 4. Money wise Faulk for Myers, Perreault for Rask is pretty even. Then if you move Skinner you replace him with Svechnikov you save a ton and then with Vesalainen, Aho and Necas on ELC's the top 6 is super cheap but extremely young.
