1st one means just about nothing when it's March of an obvious tanking team. I watch every Leafs game possible and skipped out on watching by the end. If it was an extended trend then sure. But fans getting bored of a team when their season is over means absolutely 0.

Toronto FC's lowest ever attendance was above 18k, and that was with the team having no good players and not making the playoffs for nearly a decade. That's more than what half the NHL is currently bringing in.

Comparing the attendance in extreme circumstances with teams that havent made the playoffs in 20 years, 9 years and once in 10 years to teams who made the playoffs last season is an obviously invalid comparison. It's not bandwagoning to start to lose interest in a team in the last month of the season when they're bottom of the standings or when they haven't made the playoffs in 9 years, or even in 20 years in the Jays case.. The same thing happens for any fanbase in any sport. Not drawing at the beginning of a season, especially when your team just made the playoffs, is a completely different story.

TFC had to roll back prices to 2007 levels and the announced attendance was much different than the actual attendance.

Free to believe what you like... point is the bandwagon alive and well here.

Our deuces stink too

"...ratings have dropped to the point where the Leafs were removed from CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada"
Toronto Maple Leafs finally get hit where it hurts the most — fan attendance

The Leafs were removed from the CBC slot in March 2015...it was towards the end of the a controversial season where some players on the ice had soured towards the fanbase. This after the Leafs went 1–11–1 in January, 3–7–1 in February and a dismal 4–10–1 in March (and 1–2–2 in April) coupled with the team souring to the fans by not saluting the crowd which is what actually led to the backlash against the team...and possibly why Kessel and Phaneuf were shipped out in the summer. They've been back on CBC ever since...have always been on CBC Hockey Night in Canada and will remain on HNIC for decades to come. Relax.

TFC had to roll back pricing in response to fan boycotts and protests. Attendance dropped as did the number of people that showed up for games.
Don't insult those of us who lived it. I was a season ticket holder and very involved in that issue.

Yeah because "Walking The Red" is a really good source.

Here's TFC's attendance and ranking since being established.

2007 = 20,130 (3rd)
2008 = 20,120 (3rd)
2009 = 20,344 (3rd)
2010 = 20,453 (3rd)
2011 = 20,267 (3rd)
2012 = 18,155 (9th)
2013 = 18,131 (9th)
2014 = 22,086 (3rd)
2015 = 23,451 (3rd)
2016 = 26,538 (3rd)
2017 = 27,647 (3rd)

Furthermore, the backlash wasn't the TFC supporters against the team, it was against MLSE who were jerking off TFC and Raptors fans by being overly concerned only about the Leafs. That's where the "MLSE = Making Losing Seem Easy" originated from. This was also around the same time when the idea first floated of bringing the Argos to BMO. Infact, the Argos would have come to BMO much earlier had it not been for this backlash in 2012 and 2013.

It's been fine ever since. Relax.

Seriously?
Ironic for a guy that claims that every counter opinion is incorrect.
Toronto isn't a special place just because you want it to be. The bandwagon runs through town here too.

Toronto is a lot better than cities where the Expos and Grizzles once played. Let's just put it that way.

I won't turn this into a TFC discussion but as an active member of a Supporters Group that participated in discussions with MLSE Executives on ticket pricing, attendance concerns and other issues, I can assure you that attendance was dropping significantly due to pricing and performance.
