Pittsburgh will be a dynasty team(NBC already thinks they are).

Even before this year they had already played more playoff games then any other team since the lockout.

Pittsburgh: 132
Detroit: 128
Chicago: 124
San Jose: 121
New York: 117
Anaheim: 105

If you include this year:
Pittsburgh: 151
New York: 129
Chicago: 128
Detroit: 128
San Jose: 127
Anaheim: 122
Boston: 103

Both teams will have their places in history. Both have different stories and wonderful ones at that.

Ones success in no way diminishes the others.

I would not count Chicago out. They have a strong foundation and a tweak here or there and they are a juggernaut.

That said...GO PENS!!!

I.E.
Pens need to take full advantage of their window the next 3-5 years to be even considered a dynasty.

I'm just happy for 87 and 71 to get recognized for how ****ing good they are. 2012-15 were some ****** times. Malkin wasn't a top 10 player. Toews was better than Sid. Blah blah blah.

I'm frankly just happy both are healthy-ish. That's really all it took to be honest. We were all robbed of some great years of some great players. They really SHOULD have been a totally dominant team all of these years but the injury list was just insanity. If they finally accomplish it, better late than never. I just have a hard time with this thread because this board has gone out of its way to denigrate the Hawks' run so to stretch the other direction to shoehorn the Pens in feels wrong.

Hawks got magical contracts done at just the right time and had ace management in place for their prime - and virtually perfect health when it mattered most.
Penguins manifestly didn't do as well management wise after our first cup in the Sid/Geno era, and have not been in anything resembling perfect health for the majority.

Their - Chicago's - peak five year spell was greater than what the Pens have been doing. It's hard to argue that.

On the other hand, the Pens have been relevant a while longer, and in my opinion looks to be relevant for a while longer still. I.e. I think we are likely better next season than this.

But all this is a great deal more relevant if we beat the Preds.

...and how much better could we have done if Malkin was as good as Toews, Kieth, or Kane? :sarcasm:

Should be a list of playoff wins rather than games played so it won't reward teams who win it in 7 vs. sweep.

Even then, I believe since the lockout or whatever, the Pens have the most playoff victories out of any team.

Top 10.

Pittsburgh: 87-64
Chicago: 76-52
Anaheim: 70-52
Detroit: 68-60
San Jose: 64-63
New York R: 61-68
Boston: 59-44
Washington: 47-50
Los Angeles: 46-35
Philadelphia: 41-46

Those two narratives was very popular around here, it was disgusting. Although I can understand why. When it wasn't clear if Crosby would be back to 100% after the concussions, NHL started to market Toews even more (yes he was or is good, but nowhere near Crosby). And Malkin was out with injuries and why promote a Russian thats always out with injuries. From a business standpoint I get it, but it was absurd.

These days we get the opposite though. Now Mike Milbury says Crosby is better than Howe, top 5 etc which is equally absurd.

As for Malkin, he got left out of NHL100 just a couple of months ago, but people actually noticed and gave him support around here. So the tide turned there as well.
