Lets assume, Gusev wants to play for Russia on the WCH. It is possible, that he will head to Vegas after the tournament? What actually say the rules about this?
There is a deadline to sign guys from europe or sign them period.
If they don't sign by then they can't play in the NHL.
Nylander came close to the deadline I believe.
As long as the player is on the 90 man reserve list they can be signed and be eligible for playoffs (with the exception of unsigned rfa's). Theres no such thing as a regular season signing deadline, players can be signed anytime (except rfa's). So yes guys like Gusev, and Makar can be signed and eligible for playoffs. Teams can also sign current ufa's right now but they would not be eligible for playoffs since they weren't on reserve list at trade deadline. There are exceptions to the regular season signing deadline I believe, but as far as I know, there is no way a player (from anywhere) can sign a contract during the postseason and join the team during the playoff run.
