I think it’s fair to say the Flames won the Hamilton trade?

Majorly. NGL, us making the playoffs in the McDavid lottery season was just a win-win in every proportion. We had a ton of fun making the playoffs. If we actually got a high pick, we'd probably have used it to pick Hanifin or Provorov (Let's be honest, there's no way we'd have finished worse than the Leafs, Coyotes, Sabres, or Oilers even if we tried), which means no Lindholm. Not to mention we drafted Mangiapane, Kylington, and Andersson in that draft.

Well I think that's what this team is supposed to look like. Strong goaltending, good shot suppression, forechecked well and kept the opponent hemmed in for minutes at a time. Think when you have the D playing that aggressive you're just kind of doomed to give up some rush chances, but Vladar handled them well.

Good : Dube was excellent, wonder if somebody got in his ear that Pelletier might be after his spot. Vladar also locked in, can't really blame him on the GA. Bounced right to the guy who made a great shot. Thought Weegar was terrific after being beat by Saad for the breakaway, always interesting to look at how a player responds after a play like that. Mangiapane back to being that play driving demon he was last year. Didn't get a pt on the Coleman goal but deserved one. Walker Duehr way to go buddy, liked watching him with the Heat/Wranglers and cool to see him score in the bigs. Not sure there's a ton there but always gives a honest effort and does move well.

Pretty good : Kadri real physical, liked the defensive effort. Had the feet moving. PK was good. Tanev was quality. So was Andersson. Backs is so good at hockey, appreciate him. Coleman also skating well, nice finish on his G. Toffoli, Zadorov, Ruzicka :thumbu:

Not bad : Huberdeau played some good defense. Wonder if he can play some good offense at the same time. Lindy just looks a little labored to me, not engaging physically as often. Managed the puck well tho. Lucic was fine. Hanifin not as good as last game but did a good job on the STL top players. Stone and Lewis were OK too, really no weak links tonight.

Great result. If the third ended the other way around and we lost in reg we'd both be 4 games over .500. As it stands we're 6 over and they're 2. That feels like the tale of two completely different seasons but it's the difference of one third period.

Maybe we skip Saturday's and pretend it doesn't exist. Early start and @ Oettinger? Oof. They're very good this yr.

Not sure if they'll follow in the Avs footsteps, but we like playing 8 seeds in the first round that end up becoming contenders immediately after.

Calgary is rolling, I think we can get 2 if we stay out of the box. Solid effort though. Going to have to score in committee and have our goalies show up every game if we are going to make the playoffs.

we won the trade but not majorly it only looks that way because Boston f*cked up the picks...Barzal, Connor, and Chabot, Aho were all still on the board
that Fluke playoff run while fun derailed what should have been a needed tear down rebuild

This may not be a popular opinion but I’d take having both Lindholm and Hanifin over every single one of those names.

Anyways, imagine going back to the start of December and telling yourself that we’d have 4 regulation losses in the last 21 games, and that most of us would be pissed about it. We are on the cusp of something pretty great still, the high danger chances are seemingly growing by the day as well.

This split against the Blues highlights how much this team struggles when they don't score the first goal.

16-5-4 when scoring first (18th best win%)
4-9-5 when trailing first (25th best win%, next best playoff team is LA in 17th)
