I think his playmaking is high-end, and I think he can be a great 2-way player. Not an excellent skater by any means, but he’s pretty smart. 20+45 with great 2-way play is my prediction at his peak.

I disagree. Watching him I was blown away by the strides (no pun intended) he's made in his skating. His explosiveness and straight line speed are seriously impressive.

Insane that he was given up by Vegas because of how loaded they were. He's a keeper.

Was he really?, have they ever really been loaded???

I think they have been dumbasses with trading their high end prospects.

They rather have likes of Karlsson, Stephensson, Roy, Amadio,
Kolesar, Patrick, Coghlan, Hutton....

Also, rather throw away players like Fleury, Tuch, Reaves,...

Sure they got Eichel now but...what ever.

It’ll be hard to say Vegas will ever be anything but a winner in the deal, acquiring a player of Eichel’s caliber, but Krebs has the potential to make it a clear win on Buffalo’s end of things.

The way Tuch is playing, most casual buffalo fans are pleased with the trade even without considering Krebs. Not a huge sample size but the difference between Eichel and Tuch is (so far) MUCH less than Krebs (not to mention the 1st), especially when you consider Tuch's amazing contract. Tuch has been everything this team has needed for a very long time, especially in the leadership department.

I don't think you'll ever get to say one team won this trade over the other...unless Eichel's surgery doesn't hold up.

Agreed 100%, I worded my post strangely but I meant that it could work out extremely well for both sides.

Buffalo hosed Vegas in the trade. Krebs contract and control outweigh the Eichel and his salary commitment. Add Tuch and a 1st... Buffalo made out like bandits.
If Eichel doesn't produce like a superstar for Vegas, and the Sabres make use of that 1st on someone good, then they have a good plan to keep rebuilding.

Vegas tries to do their own thing,
Their goal was to win the Cup from season 1 on.

I was so much all in for Vegas, but last and this season
has changed my views about them.

I think their fall has started, 14th in P%, 14th in ROW, 20th in goals against
- from last 14 games, they have won just 6

They are still 2nd in Pacific but teams below them are improving and closing the gap

He definitely has the best tape to tape passes on the team but Tuch tends to make all the right decisions when it comes to passing so I'd say he is already the 2nd best passer on the team with a little more experience he can learn not to force some passes and become the best passer on the team. Can't wait for next year where he can easily have two legitimate goal scorers always with him in the lineup.

Any updates on this guy? I loved him in Major Junior but his production this season looks brutal. (but he's +3 on a pretty bad Buffalo team so that must count for something right?)

Was excited for him but it sounds like he's more destined to be a bottom 6 energy player/special teams specialist these days.

He's spent most of the last two years on what could be described as their "checking line" with Okposo and Girgensons as his most frequent linemates. They get slanted d-zone deployments and are there to try to cycle and shut things down. He's okay at it. Part of it was them trying to get him to simplify his game - he had a lot of junior tendencies that he hadn't gotten rid of with Vegas of just hurling pucks into space, especially on the backhand leading to rushes against. Much of that's gone now, though he still will drop a nice pass from time to time, though he's gotten better at playing a more pro-style game. Some will call that trio Buffalo's "fourth line" but they're usually third line in ES TOI. He gets almost no PP time and his use on the PK has been in a fill-in role when one of their regular PKers (Greenway in December) is out injured.

Today was the first time in recent memory that he lined up with actual scoring talent - he had Peterka and Benson on his wings tonight and it was a little chaotic but something to grow on. We'll have to see where it goes, if he's livened up because teams are supposedly looking at him or if he's pushed up the lineup on his own despite that, production is king. His shot remains underwhelming and he will make some passes out of higher danger areas when he's the man with the shot option which is maddening but typical for almost ever Sabre forward so it could also be what they are having harped at them by the coaching staff.
