The son of former NHL defenceman Stephane Robidas, Justin Robidas is a forward. His father played for the Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs. Justin Robidas was drafted second overall by the Val D’or Foreurs in the 2019 QMJHL Draft. Robidas made an instant impact. He scored 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points in 57 games in his rookie season. Robidas, born in Texas, also played for Team Canada White at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. This is not an IIHF-sanctioned tournament, so Robidas is still eligible to play for both countries right now.

This past season, Robidas was named an alternate captain for the Foreurs. His offensive game took a big step forward as he scored 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points in 35 games. Robidas also added three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 14 playoff games. Robidas helped Val D’Or to reach the QMJHL President’s Cup Final. Unfortunately, the Foreurs fell in six games to the Victoriaville Tigres.

FINALLY!!! Congrats Canes, you got one helluva player

Hat-trick and was +4 in his preseason opener, with 5 sog and 8/14 at the dot, as the Foreurs win 5-4

The big thing about the Canes scouting team is that they really don't give a shit about size as long as you can play hockey really well. Over half of their draft class this year consisted of players under 6 feet, and three of the over 6-feeters were goalies. That may pay dividends over the next 5-7 seasons.

Scored almost another hat-trick tonight, in his preseason game #2, added 2 primary helpers with his 2 goals, was again +4, with 2 sog,
but this time was way better at the dot; 13/17. other info : played as the Foreurs Captain.

Sounds like he had a decent prospect camp but why was he sent back so quickly by the Hurricanes? Is their forward group that deep or was it simply to give others more of a look?

Yes. Svechnikov, Aho, Necas, Kotkaniemi, Trocheck, Teravainen, Neidereitter, J. Staal, and Fast are locks for the top 9.

guys like Suzuki, Rees, Drury, Jarvis, Bokk, etc…won’t even get a shot this year barring injury (won’t be surprised if Jarvis gets a few games before being sent back to Juniors, but that’s for development purposes). There’s no room at the inn right now. Better that Robidas go back and get prime playing time in the Q.

Hadn't looked that closely. That's a fairly formidable group.

Small player... teams will never learn....

Sure because every small player makes it right?

also don't forget that the canes picked 7 other players before him this year.

Will he be one of the countless Q small superstars that fizzles at the next level or one of the few that prove the exception to the rule?

I get what you are saying but it is what it is.

After a great start to the season (5 points in 2 games)
Justin went just 6 points in his next 16 games.

However of late, he has been on fire, 2 OT winners in a row
and 12 points in his last 6 games.

12 points in his last 5 games.

Not having awesome season point wisely, but considering
the season Foreurs are having,...

21 goals (18 goals 5 on 5 ), 45 points, -10, in 39 games
is pretty good, pretty great.
