He’s an intriguing prospect, and a kid I’ve come
away impressed with at times when watching him play, big, drives to the net, good pace but the numbers aren’t there as an ‘04. He is going to be a pretty good OHLer - but I don’t think he is draftable this year And will be passed over this year, just like he was last year.

Reminds me a bit of Lawson Sherk, but he’s behind him at this stage of their careers.

Sherk impresses me whenever I watch him and I was always wondering if he'd eventually be good enough to become a role player in the NHL. However, the fact that he wasn't really able to elevate his scoring output over the years might make it tough for him to get opportunities elsewhere once he ages out of the OHL.

If some London fans can chime in, (@LDN please and others) how has Julien looked so far this season? He's putting up points which is nice but I'd enjoy hearing from posters who have watched him.

Starting to drive play and drive a line. If he keeps it up we will go on a long playoff run

Jacob Julien is a player who grows on you. Much like teammate Denver Barkey he does a lot of the little things right. His hockey IQ is very high and his stickwork off the puck, and getting into passing lanes and taking pucks away is very good. He isn't afraid to drive to the net or stand in front either and has the size to make that a good thing. He's also a pretty good goal scorer in his own right as his shot is nothing to shake a stick at and he tends to pick up a lot of dirty goals in front of the net as well. He's also physical and a little nasty which is always nice.

He's definitely improved his offensive game a bunch and his shot is deadly at this point, and his vision and playmaking have improved to be passable. He was over a PPG in the regular season and has 13 pts in 13 games in the playoffs.

His defensive game is definitely the main part of his allure and he has a solid floor as a 3rd or 4th line player and PKer but if he can improve his acceleration and top speed in his skating he'll get a lot more offensive chances off the rush, and if he can improve his playmaking and vision he could grow into a very good player. His skating definitely isn't bad for his size and is close to being good.
