Swift Current doesn't exactly get to Victoria this year so I was wondering among those who watch a lot of hockey, where does his skills rate at the NHL level and what niche does he have the best chance of creating. I don't want the opinions of people who watch highlights or read boxscores. Also, does he generate a lot of shots on goal for a center?

He is a fast skater. Likely energy guy at the next level. Doesn't have the best puck skill, takes quite a few shots.

That is sort of what I figured. I have read ++ speed, + defense and + faceoffs and instantly figured he would be at best a specialist used on defensive zone faceoffs.

Just saw them play last night. He has shown pretty well whenever Ive seen them roll through town. I would say he would be a longshot to make the nhl though. No more or less than any other 5th round pick would be I suppose.

I cant say he has any skills at the nhl level presently tbh, but that doesnt mean he cant develop them over time.

I'm on board with this.

Black's likely one of the fastest skaters I've seen come through junior in the last few years. Maybe even top 5

He is having a pretty damn good year. What kind of player does he project to be? Helm type 3rd line C or an offensive type 2nd line C.

I think it is unlikely that he will be a top 6 player. Not impossible though, but I think realistically he projects to be a speedy Bottom 6 Forward, who can provide some solid secondary scoring.

His skating is all you need to know about him. His assist to Colby Cave against the Oil King was some of the fastest straight line speed I've ever seen.
