Scouting Report: Dario Allenspach - Smaht Scouting

Watched a fair amount of him this year and last. Surprised no one took a punt on him late last year.

Guess he goes in 2021, probably mid-late rounds.

Really smart, good passer, good two-way game. Really physically immature still. I think he sees game better at C but have seen him at wing at times. Does not mind going to danger areas despite being small-ish. Nice release too. Not a "speedster" but gets up and down ice fine.

One of those guys who might break-out due to being behind a lot of his peers physically.

Maybe he ends up just a really good Euro leaguer. But if develops in right way could end up an NHL bottom sixer.

Played in NL as a 19-year-old and Central Scouting has him ranked #123 amongst European skaters entering the 2022 draft; his third year of eligibility.

Any thoughts?

Didn't get to play much on a loaded Zug team (06:30 average during playoffs) but played a good regular season and was downright fantastic in the playoffs. Not physical but was very effective in a 4th line energy role. Average hands but high hockey IQ, good skating and defensively responsible. Great passer/playmaker and very good at faceoffs. NHL upside probably more top9 than top6 but he could be worth a late round pick I think.
