Great addition to a talent depleted champion.
The way I've seen him play this season tells me he's a lock on the top 6 and the #1 PP. I mean Manner would be an idiot to not try him 1st on the top line IMO.

I assume this was with discussion with the Panthers as best for his development. But curious he didn't even want to try out at camp first?

He's physically too immature to play in the NHL yet, it showed at the U-20 WJC. Depending on how much muscle he can pick up during the summer, he might play wing with Kärpät.

Does it say in the article if he has an out clause at all incase they think he progresses fast enough in one year instead of two?

Not that I believe he would make it out of the training camp this year, but if he would I assume that his contract with Karpat includes an NHL clause that in such situation lets him play for the Panthers.

All Finnish league contracts have an NHL out clause by default so he can play in NHL/AHL in 2019, or even this year if he somehow makes it.

(player position finally corrected in the title :) )

Lets make some 2018-2019 Heponiemi predictions to start the Heponiemi II thread
in a form of a poll; How many goals+assists=points does Heponiemi score in his pro debut season
(2017 181st overall Petrus Palmu scored 17 goals,19 assists,36 points and won the rookie scoring title
last season)

2019 u20 world juniors will fleece games from his regular season total
so i'm thinking just above 50 regular season games for Hepo.

___

Heponiemi-Kupari-Lindsten as a Kärpät 1st line would be awesome!!!

All these lists tell me is that junior scoring means nothing. Which i already knew.

No, it just really does not. Petan for example scored 120 points in the WHL before his draft and was picked 43th. Scouts know what to look for in junior players, and the main thing is absolutely not scoring.
Scoring is the most important thing and also predicts success very well. It's the most important thing when determining possible NHL success, the second-most important thing is skating(Which Petan btw lacks).

I don't agree with anything you just said, so that's that i suppose.

You can go watch how junior goalies and D play and decide for yourself how much weight scoring should have.

It's not about disagreeing or agreeing, it's about statistics and studying the past as well as finding patterns. Go take a look at the relation of scoring and becoming an NHL player. But if you have performed statistical analysis and came up with a superior model, I'm all ears. Alex Debrincat is just one player on whom you would have outperformed professional scouts by simply looking at point production and ignoring everything else.

Or are you disagreeing with me about Petan lacking skating? Or about skating being important? If you are disagreeing with me on either of the two, you're wrong by the way.
