I like how in less than a year this team has gone from sending assets to Vegas saying "please don't take our guys" to sending assets to Vegas saying "PLEEEEEASE TAKE OUR GUYS!!"

Those are not assets, those are just dead weights and i'm afraid no one will want any of them

But I don't see what buying him out accomplishes compared to waiting it out. If you need to do it for subsequent moves, sure. But we're not in a difficult position and I don't see opportunities like that being there that require clearing that much cap. If they ride it out they won't have the buyout on the cap later, even if it's not that much.

It accomplishes one very big thing: It removes a guy who has become nothing more than a liability from the roster.

This is not an Iginla situation. There, he was at least productive the first two seasons and can be pigeonholed into a 4th line/power play specialist role. You can limit #12's minutes. There's absolutely no way to hide Beauchemin. They're tried already and failed.

So...no, you cannot ride it out. He needs to go NOW. He most certainly better not be wearing an Avs uniform once the season starts next year. They will not improve until they cast off the anchors on this team, and he is by far the biggest anchor.

Either way they gotta pay the full cap hit next year. I'd rather they just have the cap hit without the liability on skates out there literally costing them games.

Joe gotta keep pounding the pavement for a possible taker for Francois. I dont see any GM dumb enough to do it but Joe should try if he hasnt already.

I'm 100% positive he's trying like hell. But I think that supposed Montreal rumor is a bunch of fairy dust. No scout in his right mind watching Avalanche games would even think of going to his boss and say "I think that guy wearing 32 would be a good add."

You underestimate the french factor when it comes to Montreal

Just retain half of it and trade him.

He clearly is pissed off with this team and @2.25M someone will take a chance on him and probably even give up something worth our while at the deadline.

That is a decent caphit for a bottom pairing guy who can play PK and has a decent history of leadership and production.

Someone will gamble on him bouncing back
away from the tirefire that is the 2016/17 Avs.

Same as with Iginla.

The bolded is why I don't think they will buy him out if he isn't traded. I don't think Stuart would have been bought out had the rumored "issues" with his attitude not been in play. I don't think Beauch would create much of a distraction even if he was playing 3rd pair or at times the press box.

Stuart was bought out because dude can't play anymore, and they may as well since either way the cap hit was on the books for this season no matter what. I don't think there was anything about attitude that prompted it, though I'm sure he wasn't a happy camper.

And I don't think Beauchemin is a bottom pairing guy. I don't think he's an NHL player anymore, but man, if there's ANYONE who believes that then they need to work hard to get that done. That's why I also think he needs to sent home. Continued play is only going to either get him hurt or further expose his lack of ability. And besides, if he gets sent home he'll be far more apt to waive his NMC.
