https://twitter.com/dowbboy

if true, could it have an impact on Kadri negotiations?

UPDATE:

A reliable source tells CTV Calgary Wednesday night that former Toronto Maple Leafs president and GM Brian Burke is joining the Calgary Flames organization.

What role the 58-year-old will assume in Calgary has not been announced. The social media site Twitter lit up Wednesday afternoon with tweets circulating that Burke could be joining the Calgary Flames and that he was expected in Calgary that evening.

According to the official AJHL Lloydminster Bobcats website, Burke is expected to take part in its Evening of Champions Fundraiser Dinner Thursday night.

More details to come...

What better way to do it than offer sheet Kadri?

2 1sts+2nd trade for Kessel, we get Ekblad+McDavid. That'd be funny.

There seems to be more than a little fire with the smoke of the Brian Burke to Calgary rumours. Standby.

This basically sums it up.

Also Burke using an offer sheet? Yeah right

He can threaten it. That's how we got Kessel, at least.

Anyway, if Burke goes to the Flames in a management position, it'll be huge for them. Get Feaster the hell out of Calgary.

As a person living in Calgary, I would LOVE if Burke came here.

Why would the Flames do this just before the start of the season?

Leafs did it with Nonis and Burke. No pressure on the GM to make immediate moves in the offseason. Full year to assess roster.

"Guys, seriously, we really need to re-tool this thing and grow some balls. I'm gonna trade our 1st round pick next year even though we'll be a lottery team and could use an elite player drafted into our system, then I'm gonna scour the USA college ranks for some free wallets, if we're lucky we'll end up with a Bozak-type 1st line C to anchor our core in 4-5 years time. No no guys, you're not dreaming this is really possible. Let's get this team on track!"

BTW I love Burke, and I've got a soft spot for Calgary and they could really benefit from Burke coming in there, but it's gonna be a loooooooooooong journey Calgary fans :(

I actually like this move. I was a Burke fan and Calgary is probably the only other Canadian team I actually like besides the Leafs (maybe Edmonton as well, the rest can go **** themselves). Feel bad for their fans too, the Saddledome flooded and their team reminds me of the 2008/2009 Leafs.

If burke indeed goes to the flames, its not kadri we should be worried about, its kessel and phaneuf. If phaneuf and Kessel are still UFA's by next offseason, i could see Calgary making a big push.

Haha, what? You know GMs have very little interaction with players right? Why would Phaneuf go back to Calgary? And why would Kessel go to an awful team in Alberta when he can basically pick from 20 teams?

Dude they can offer-sheet Kadri all they want, we'll take their top 3 pick, their second and third thank you very much. Burke can try and haunt us all he wants but we'll take his future assets.

Kessel would not leave the Leafs only to go to a horrible team.

Why the hell would Kessel go to Calgary? I could understand the reasoning behind Phaneuf going, but not Kessel, if Kessel leaves he's going back to the states IMO. If the money is close why would he go to a crappy re-building team over a team he helped get to the playoffs for the first time in 9 years. He's not going to suffer on a re-building team and then finally have some success just to leave to go another re-building team.
