Carolina needs both scoring and goaltending.

Burakovsky has been passed by Vrana for a top 6 roll. Obviously, with Samsonov coming, Grubauer is now expendable.

What would the Canes offer?

This conversation will go WAY better if you explain Washington's needs first. We can make lots of offers which will draw a "makes no sense for the Caps" type response.

If Washington does indeed need a defenseman, my guess is the primary piece will be either Faulk or Hanifin.

Not exactly sure where anyone would think Burakovsky would fit in on the Canes? what you said was correct, the canes need scoring. I'd hardly say a guy who has put up 38, 35, 25 points each of the last three years is the answer to our scoring woes.

Grubauer does interest me. Wonder how quickly we could ruin his confidence.

Caps needs depend on what happens with Carlson. If Carlson resigns they likely just look for futures. Most of the team will be back next year and the spots that will be open have young guys penciled in already. There aren't a lot of holes or needs on the roster but the organization definitely needs to start restocking the pipeline.

Are you a Caps fan pitching this to CAR? (If so, why only CAR--as opposed to making a general "What would your team give for a Burakovsky/Grubauer package" thread--especially if you haven't indicated what the Caps might specifically want from CAR?)

Anyway, not trying to play Thread Police, just not really sure what's going on here, or whether CAR fans in particular are interested in buying what you're trying to sell.

After watching Darling fail so spectacularly last season, I'm not sure trading a good to great asset, which Washington would likely want to deal Grubauer in the division, will be appetizing to Carolina.
