Thought it would be fun to combine the best player's in Sabres history onto one team. In their prime.

Dave Andreychuk - Gilbert Perreault - Mike Foligno
Miroslav Satan - Pat LaFontaine - Alexander Mogilny
Thomas Vanek - Derek Roy - Jason Pominville
Craig Ramsay - Dale Hawerchuk - Daniel Brière

Phil Housley - Mike Ramsey
Alexei Zhitnik - Doug Bodger
Lindy Ruff - Jerry Korab

Dominik Hasek
Ryan Miller

Have I missed anyone? I guess this team would dominate in todays NHL?

Rick Martin and Rene Robert don't make your list? Danny Gare? Pierre Turgeon?

And if we're talking "in their prime" then Doug Gilmour has to make the list as well.

Martin and Robert certainly rate the 1st or 2nd line.
Doug Gilmour as our 3rd line center.
Lafontaine and Molginy on the 2nd line.

Martin - Perreault - Robert (French Connection)
Gare - Lafontaine - Molginy
Andreychuck - Gilmour - Briere
Drury - Hawerchuck - Foligno

I would love that 4 line scenario right there. Roll 3 scoring lines and a hell of a 4th line.

I would think this is how they played while they were on the Sabres, in which case Gilmour probably doesn't make it.

I don't believe that is the case in accordance with the OP's opening post where his opening statement is as follows:

"Thought it would be fun to combine the best player's in Sabres history onto one team. In their prime."

Specifically the bolded, I'd want Gilmour in the ranks, wouldn't you?

Vanek and Pominville over Briere and Drury? No Peca? Frankly, I'm shocked you didn't exclude Hasek, too, out of your obvious disdain for those players who had high-profile departures.

And I liked Hawerchuk, as well, but I wouldn't give him two spots on the team.

I suppose I should have read that better... I just assumed it was in their prime as a Sabre because it makes more sense.

If it's in the prime of their career, then yes Gilmour absolutely belongs.

I don't think he meant it like that, but if he did then yes Gilmour belongs, and Hawerchuk should be moved way up from the OP's 4th line.

Took me 5 minutes to get through the first post being flabbergasted to see Derek Roy on there. Which then blinded me to the fact that there was also no Martin, Gare, Peca, maybe a Turgeon, etc. Good Grief!

I'm too young to do this, I know alot of the names and whatnot but not their impact on the Sabres. I'd have to make one for like late 90's til now. Basiclaly the best players of the Ruff Era. Leave this to you old lads.

True, right up until the first time Vanek coasted through the neutral zone on a back check. Wouldn't it be cool to see Mike Ramsey skate out there and beat the crap out of his own teamate?

I like Vanek and all, very gifted offensive talent, but his defensive posture eliminates him from an all time list in my opinion.

Ha, Peca was meant to be the 4th center but my editing is obviously no good.
