The Devils first practice is at 11:30 today I believe. Figured it would be best to create a centralized thread for everyone to talk about this and leave the Devils discussion thread for the NHL-team oriented news.

TG is not going to the tournament unfortunately so I'm not sure what news we are going to get from it, but at least we have a place for it.

Some important info from some of TG's threads:

Devils posted some videos about the challenge.

lol Blandisi just toying with JQ in faceoffs

That was pretty funny. JQ obviously needs to work on his face-off skills, like most members of the Devils organization.

The scene 40 seconds in is about as tacky as it gets

Yeah, that was probably my least favorite of the videos, to be honest, but I figured I'd share it with you all, and share the misery. :P

Got my tickets for tomorrow's scrimmage! I'll be taking my notebook and jotting down my thoughts while the game is going on.

Cool. I hope you have an awesome time!

I wouldn't give two squirts of piss for any team that didn't have something similar. It may be unrealistic, but the message is clear - you play to win, period.

Weren't you one of the anti-tanking crowd a few months back? If so, there's your anti-tanking statement from the team.

Nah I'm not talking about tacky in the sense of what the expectations for this season are.

Doesn't matter whether you finished 1st or 30th last year, the same goal for every team in any sport, regardless of their expectations going into the season, is to improve on the year prior and make a run for a championship.

You said it yourself, you play to win. It's a tacky reminder of the end goal, which a reminder really shouldn't be needed for in the first place.

While they're at it why not just go put a blank banner up next to the other 3 we have hanging up.

The 2015 blank space is what people are upset about in that? I mean it's probably not the right year (or the right time for that matter, this is basically still just an extension of development camp) to use that page in the motivation book but I'd prefer jumping the shark with that than the alternative. I was expecting something far worse like some grandiose speech about winning the tournament. Although maybe people see the real problem in the over the top way it's presented in the video which is fair...but I don't really get wrapped up in propaganda video content for the most part.

And that kind of cliche motivation worked for the 2010 Packers fwiw, they put up a blank team photo next to their Super Bowl photos.
