I don’t follow the prospects nearly as much as I should. Usually leave it to the guys who consistently watch it. So I haven’t really watched much, but has beecher really fallen off that much?

I know that opinion wont be popular but unfortunately I have the feeling we are overvalueing Lohrei and Lysell and they end up being worse than we would like them to be. Lohrei looked extremely raw in his short stint in Providence and playing NHL defense will be a real test for him. Lysell seemed to have some problems in handling the physical play down there. My top 10 ranking is

1 Merkulov
2 Poitras
3 Lysell
4 Lohrei
5 Locmelis
6 Bussi
7 Brunet
8 Beecher
9 Toporowski
10 Jellvik

Different people do their lists differently. For me, I try to group them by upside, and then recent performance. So...

1-5 on my list are guys I think could be impactful top6/top pair players, or in Bussi's case a starting goalie.

6-9 I think could become complimentary 2nd liners or 2nd pair D.

10-16 are 3rd liners IMO. Beecher, McLaughlin, Duran, Kuntar... all seem like they could be valuable two-way 3rd liners. Harrison is a bit of a wild card here. He has talent but I've never seen the drive. Reminds me of Jordan Caron.

17-20 look like quality 3rd pair D to me, though I might be selling Myrenberg and Gallagher short here. Hard to compare apples to apples with Myrenberg since he's overseas, and Gallagher hasn't impressed me at a development camp yet so he's lower on my list than some other people's. Hoping for a jump here.

Based on this explanation about your list it makes perfect sense but I tend to look at safer players who I am pretty sure will play NHL games even in a bottom 6 forward role or botton 2 D.

For that reason I would move Lysell and Merkulov down, while moving Beecher, Lauko and McLaughlin up.

What's your top20 prospect list look like?

1 Lohrei
2 Lysell
3 Poitras
4 Merkulov
5 Bussi
6 Locmelis
7 Brunet
8 Gasseau
9 Jellvik
10 Lauko
11 Toporowski
12 McLaughlin
13 Beecher
14 Duran
15 Harrison
16 Kuntar
17 Myrenberg
18 Gallagher
19 Edward
20 Callahan
Barring trades, I'd imagine the draft picks we currently have aren't going to make a change the top 10 all that much.

But maybe there's some diamonds in the rough for us.

Mast that Low and no Jackson Edward ?
From 10-18 not much separates them, that's just the way I see it today
That said I'm curious about Mast, was he successful because he's just bigger than everyone else or does he have that legit talent and upside,we'll find out soon enough

I love Edward, enjoyed watching him play, competes his bag off, gritty,in your face type, super athletic but he's still raw, very raw
He's in a great spot though

In a perfect world Lohrei plays a full year in Providence getting in 80 + games
Bussi,Beecher and Lysell play so well Boston has no choice but to bring them up or make room.
Merkulov has nothing left to prove down here, either play him or move him

I don’t really get to watch the prospects but I think Locmelis is my guy. If him and poitras can be to 6 players Sweeney is a genius. We shall see.

Locmelis is so smart love the potential. Plus he plays centre.

I haven’t watched poitras but he put up ridiculous numbers.

I'm surprised no one has Matias Mantykivi in their list.
/ours until July 1st if SweeNeely doesn't sign him.

If I remember correctly, some spoke highly of him. Is he just not NHL worthy or of a contract spot?
You remember correctly, while he certainly wasn't a can't miss blue chipper I thought considering where we are prospects wise he would've been signed for organizational depth at the very least

I put a greater emphasis on higher floor than most. It could very well be that Lauko and Beecher are the only two NHL players on this list.

Players with the most growth potential: Poitras, Gasseau & Locmelis

The chances of Lohrei, Bussi, Lysell, Poitras and Merkulov not being NHL players are virtually nil.
