Bruins usually can keep their guys on cap and team friendly deals.

Krug was undrafted and underpaid thus far. He's earned the right to get his value. Unfortunately for the Bruins.
Yeah as PBfan said Krug has taken a series of team friendly short term deals his whole career. He has a young family and this is his chance to cash in and decide where he is going to raise his kids. It would have been in Boston if it wasn’t for the pandemic, it’s why the Bruins paid a first to unload Backes, but the flat cap just makes it just makes it hard to justify the raise for a specialist.

If the rumored offer is true, that deal is more than enough.
Krug's been great in Boston because he lived up to the contract. I don't think he's gonna be be playing up to his next contract.
Maybe he gets a team offering him dumb money. Maybe he doesn't. Then settles for a different team after the Bruins made their other moves. He's obviously not the Bruins first choice for first line LD.
I did champ, he's not very good. One of the bigger frauds in hockey and the biggest fake tough guy there is.

Do you really blame them, he’s not a number 1 and his defensive wards shows this.
Yes his offensive side is gold but the sheltering that needs to be done I personally feel this was a very fair offer specially since he said he wanted to stay in Boston and would take a discount months ago.
Anyways best of luck to him but hope Don doesn’t bend from this offer.

Wow.. Really? This might be a case of a player getting less money after hitting the open market, I'd say that is a very fair deal for Krug. How much more could he really get? Especially from a contender.

He's not getting more from a contender most of them are cash and cap strapped, I mean i guess Colorado could make him an offer but i'd imagine that Makar and Byram would be their PP guys so adding Krug who'd want either $7.5M or $8.0M wouldn't make sense. Only sensible team i could see chasing after Krug and they're a bubble team at best would be the Florida Panthers.

Could be other factors at play, too. Maybe he wants some kind of trade/movement protection that the B's are unwilling to give him, or maybe he wants a large chunk of the contract in signing bonuses. Another poster mentioned he has a young family, maybe he wants to raise his kids closer to home/grandparents.
