Given his age and health issues, that's not surprising.

Plus, with Palmer likely to retire and breaking in a new QB (Stanton and Gabbert) are not starters, they are backups.

He would be starting from scratch without a real shot of winning the SB. Why come back to finish the last year of your contract under those circumstances?

He couldn't make it work in Tennessee with no QB, I would not leave Pittsburgh for another job like that.

But then again if he fails again he can always get a job as O line coach anywhere. He is the best in NFL.
