Value of: Brian Dumoulin to NYI

Just curious to see what Pens fans think here. NYI need a minute eater on the left, and Dumolin seems to be somewhat expendable with Maatta, Oleksiak ,and Johnson of the left. Not even sure PIT would part with him, but what would it take?

Fair enough. That would be how I see it, too. Just didn't know how the signing of Johnson effected things.

He may not be an elite player, but he is a very good #2 defenseman on a very reasonable contract. And he is much better than Scandella.

what? Scandella plays big minutes because the sabres are trash. Dumolin is a 2/3 on any team.

as for the OP. he is completely untradable for the penguins. even moreso than letang

He's not available. We need more guys like Dumoulin not less. But if you'd like to know the cost, it would probably take Walhstrom/Dobson +. Dumoulin at 4 mil is a steal.

Agreed. Dumo is the anthesis to flashy, but he is the glue that holds that D together with offensive minded guys like Letang, Shultz and now Johnson in the fold.

Maatta would be an easier ask if you're looking for a LHD, but he would also be expensive.

He was essentially our #1 in 2017 when Letang went down.

Yep. Dumoulin carried Hainsey to a Stanley Cup on his own. Even Morgan Rielly couldn't do that.

Dumolin is arguably better than Letang. He’s probably one of the most underrated Dmen in the league. Letang s Defense is carried by Dumo and really is only favorably offensive come PP production.

Basically this bc Dumo babysits Letang. He also dragged the corpse of Ron Hainsey in the previous year's championship as a "passable" pairing.

I mean, Dumoulin logged the most minutes for the Pens in the 2017 playoffs when they won a Cup. You're severely underrating Dumoulin.
