7. Speaking of forwards, very curious to see where things go with Columbus and Brandon Saad. He’s fifth on the Blue Jackets in scoring, fifth in time-on-ice among forwards. But he was almost a healthy scratch last week and, somewhere, the team wants to ease its cap crunch. Chicago investigated it last season, but couldn’t make things work. He’s 24 years old and has a lot to give.

If he is available, you would think plenty of teams would be in on this.

NYI seems like the perfect fit. They need a topline winger for Tavares badly

I wouldn't read into it too much besides Torts trying to light a fire under him.

Bergevin was in on him before he got traded. I could see the Habs as a likely destination.

To Montreal please.

It was said that Montreal had an offer sheet ready for him before he was traded, june 30th, to CBJ.

He was the perfect winger on Toews' line. I'm sure a lot of Hawks' fans were ****** when he was traded, but that's the business these guys are in.

The GM doesn't scratch the players. The GM lets Torts scratch and play whoever he wants, how he sees fit.

Saad likely won't move unless its for a terrific young center. Kind of silly of Friedman to put moving Saad into the same sentence as addressing a cap situation. We have 2.2 million of cap space.
