LA, as mentioned, no incentive to do this. They jumped at chance to add Arvidsson, and he gave them what they hoped.

And for Blues, Saad has provided the depth scoring they need from him.

I like Saad a lot but Arvy has been a perfect fit on our #2 line and unless it’s overpayment I see no benefit to move him .

I like Arvidsson, but Saad is doing exactly what he was brought in to do with regards to replacing Schwartz. Additionally, moving Saad only makes sense if for an upgrade on D.

I would take it, Saad is signed for two more years.
Saad is signed for 4 more years.

I rather keep Arvy and his contract for 2 more years then see if any kids can take the Kopitar and Arvy's roster spots, if not we still got 14 million in cap space with just those 2 off the books.

Guess who's an UFA that year...Matthews!

While i really like hockey trades, this one is not of interest.

This trade is not helping our future core at all, while we would be adding contracted years for 30+ year olds.

Arvidson is running until 2024, Sadd until 2027.
This alone is a no go when trading similar producing players with similar age

I generally dislike Saad and would jump all over this deal.

But it’s a trade that doesn’t make sense for LA and doesn’t really make sense for St. Louis. A trade like this would only happen if both players had some kind of falling out with their respective teams.

I like this deal for the Blues, but more because of the contracts. Arvidsson does not have trade protection and has less term, so he would be easier to move next off-season when the cap crunch hits with RoR, Thomas, Kyrou and potentially Tarasenko needing new deals. That said, Saad is probably a better for the Blues in the short term, ie next year.

Two more years in contrast to Arvidsson.

Four for Saad and two for Arvy.

Its a lateral movement anyway but I think Saad is still productive at age 33.

So Arvidsson is younger, on a shorter contract, and has more goals, assists, points, and time on ice.

I'm guessing one team might do this, and it isn't the Kings.
