He had a pretty impressive +1 draft year stat wise but dropped off later as he became an overager and put up unimpressive numbers.

Every once in a while they'll be something, but yeah it's generally nothing.

Kris Draper got traded for a dollar once.

For LD, they have Helgeson, Loov, Stollery, MacWilliam, MacDonald, and Auvitu). At RD, they currently have Mozik, Jacobs, and eventually Santini.

Gormley likely will never play ahead of any of those LD and MacWilliam seems to be the guy that transitions to RD. Gormley did play RD a few times, but he's played only 35 games and the Devils loaned him out for the Spengler Cup in Switzerland as well.

It definitely made sense to move on from him.

Gormley was not a top 4 guy in Albany. They let him go play the Spengler Cup.

Basically, gives us the flexibility to go out and sign college UFAs.

There's some good LDs available this year and theres guys like Kelleher and Aston-Reese who have put up some very good numbers this year.
