He put up pretty good numbers the year we traded for him. 22 points in 31 games.

So, time for the NHL to officially introduce the Brandon Bochenski Award for the best player in the preaseason.

That guy shows the fine line between a very good NHL player and a non-NHLer.

Exactly this. He had some impressive tools in his kit, especially his shot, but you need more than a couple of skills to be a factor in the NHL game in and game out. I think he just couldn't quite play at the speed required.

I remember him fooling me multiple times into thinking he was going to suddenly become a star player. There were at least three separate occasions of that, though I became more and more tepid on each one. I've just never seen a guy get so close to stardom without actually at least "making it" into the league on a daily basis. I'm actually sad he's retired; I was really hoping he'd give it one more shot in which he'd likely fall short, for old times sake.
