Not until this year. Quite a few, especially on defense, wandered around the ice with the negative outweighing the positive with no fear of losing their jobs.

Who are the quite a few you say had no fear of losing their job while playing poorly last year?

sorry but you are in error here/ he is the 40th highest paid dman in the NHL. Your math is faulty. That’s first pairing money.

If there were over 40 true top pairing defensemen, you’d have a point.

There aren’t. There are a number of top pairing guys and then a bunch of tweeners. Skjei is paid how he should be.

This means nothing. There are all kinds of contract/contract situations. You can't just say, well he's in the top 60 so therefore he's first pairing!

Skjei is paid as he should be. It's a fine contract for what he brings.

After watching him at the World Championships I’m fairly confident he was just lacking a supporting cast. If him and Trouba blend it could make a good first pair.

Its pretty logical to generalize that higher pairing/line players get paid more than lower pairing/line players. 9/10 teams are going to have a first line making more than the third line.

No, it's not logical. You are looking at something through a vacuum that contains far more elements than you suggest.

Willful ignorance does not equal logic.

He’ll be better having someone on the d now who is clearly better than him and used that way.

He’s solid but not a 1D and he seemed to try to do way too much last year thinking he had to be the 1D.
