Those were 2 seperate contracts tho. The first contract was 17.3% of the cap, which was utterly massive and only 5 years. Still incredibly valuable just because of how good he is, but not a particular bargain.

5 years at 17.3% of the cap at time of signing, whereas mcdavid was at 8 years at 16.67% of cap at time of signing.

The second contract was an absolute bargain tho

It also helps with lesser players asking for more come resigning time . Dubas got caught a few years back saying we will match any offer sheet anybody comes at them with and we will keep all of our core no matter what . They over pay one then the next wants the same or more then the next and so on . Cap hell is a bitch .
