I expect the Ducks to add a veteran D this summer. IMO we could use a player who can play on the middle pairing or bottom pairing, be an effective PKer and has decent skating ability. I'm curious who other fans think might be available that fits that description. Trade or UFA doesn't really matter. I dont think Handedness makes much difference for this role either. Who's out there?

Jordie Benn - can play both sides and can skate good. Decent on the PK.

1.1mill cap hit final year upcoming.

I'm not really opposed to Benn. Though I'd prefer a bit more 2nd pair ability. Maybe not a 3-4 but at least a 5.

Jordie Benn can fill in on the second pair as long as his partner is a much better D than him. I wouldn't pencil him in there long term though.

I'd love to move Gunnarsson who fit that description when healthy, but he is coming off of ACL surgery. I'd trade him for a conditional pick, conditional on him being healthy enough to contribute (plays 50 games or something). I doubt his upside is worth risking 2.9M in LTIR if he doesn't recover though.

I actually used to like Stone. I wouldn't hate that move depending on the price. Though I feel like hes making a bit much at this point.

Kris Russell. We'll even give you some picks to take him. He's actually not bad, but we need a more offensive Dman in his spot. He is very steady defensively, however (aside from the occasional fluky own goal).

Dan Hamhuis or Greg Pateryn. Both bottom 4 dmen that can kill penalties and are UFAs.

Depending on what the Devils do this off-season, Ben Lovejoy might be available. One more year at 2.667.

Hamhuis is someone I'd thought of too. I thought he played a decent sized role in Dallas? Can he still get around okay?

He played a big role here and gets around just fine, but we likely won't have room for him next year/won't resign him so we can replace him with younger guys.
