Grats on beating the Leafs in 7 with an injured Woll, Nylander and Matthews as the home team.

Come on dawg, that’s a poor excuse. You win with who you have in the lineup. Nylander was big time, Matthews was poor, Woll was injured in game 7.

The Canucks won a clinching game with their 3rd string goaltender, Demko is injured and DeSmith was injured. You win with who you got, injured or not.

His father (if that is who is sitting with him) probably wasn't alive when they last won the Cup.

As for him, was he alive when they last won 2 rounds ?

What is that guy, like maybe 20? And he already has zero external reaction to seeing his team lose Game 7 OT to a hated rival.

I question the mental health outcomes of engaging in Leafs fandom.

Pasta flew by Marner in the neutral zone untouched, torched Rielly to get to the puck while Nylander watched the play like he was out for a pond skate. The effort sums it all up
The Leafs are running a 1-3-1 in that setup and Nylander is the middle guy in the 3 with his main purpose being denying an entry up the middle of the ice. What did you expect him to do?

People aren't crediting the Bruins for the play they ran there, it's an excellent setup that forced quick second adjustments by Toronto. Marner was a step slow and didn't read it, so was Samsonov and Rielly was flat-footed against a top 3 goal scorer in the game coming at full speed. The Bruins also got the perfect bounce to allow Pasta to take the puck at full speed

Woll isn't better than Swayman, but those were not fluke games by him. He's a legitimately excellent goaltender who can be a #1 in the league

The biggest issue for him is injuries. He would've been the Leafs starter for game 1 if he didn't have a high ankle sprain that derailed his 2nd half of the season
And therein lies the rub...

He sure looked fully engaged, lol.

The effort by Reilly, Marner and Nylander didn’t look like their season was on the line.

The MLSE Corporate Leafs whose boardroom decisions are only made to maintain their brand - the Leafs aren't a hockey team to the people wearing the suits, folks; to sell jerseys to their masses; and to control the narrative with endless coverage via the media they own, ie. TSN and Sportsnet, so much so that the overwhelming majority of fans of every other team can't stand them, choked again. Such a shame.

leafs have lost in the first round when all those guys were healthy.
But they need excuse numbers 326, 327 and 328.....so it's injuries this year.
But rhey should throw in the have Marner on their team for 11 mill a year.....instead of two real good players for 5.5 each. who actually show up in the play offs

Hate to use the injury excuse but when your 2 best players and your hot goalie are out half the series…. That’s tough.

Pasta showed up when it mattered
Marchand was beyond useless all series though.
Swayman is amazing
Marchy showed up big time in other games. He is hardly useless. You are just sad he isn't on your team.

The Pasta criticisim is odd to me. Scores the OT winner and has better playoff stats in his career. He also had a lot less forward talent surrounding him.
It's crazy how Matthews' goal scoring falls off in the post season...what his issue? From 0.65 career season to 0.41 playoffs. From 0.85 this season to 0.20 in the playoffs. Is he allergic to the big moments or does he abuse non-playoff teams in the regular season?

Swayman vs Samsonov 4-0 clean sweep for Boston

Leafs needed Samsonov to match Swayman once, he couldn't. I hope he enjoys his new team.

Woll was 2-0 against Swayman
They need to storm the castle and carry Shannahan out of the building themselves at this point.

Shannahan better be fired soon.

Has to be one of the most obnoxious and arrogant cover pages of all time

Toronto Sun wouldn't even publish this

Tre sunk 8-5 in Domi and Bertuzzi. That's classic Tre right there. I saw people praising Bert and Domi, but they were only visible because Papi and Nylander were out so much.

I think we should play it like a tournament where the winning team of the series gets the losing team's best player in that series.

Powers up for epic later rounds.

Boston could really use Ilya Lyubushkin.

Toronto sports section today:

Marner career 91 point scorer for his reg season career.
Play offs 72 pt pace.

Draisaitle 95 pts point scorer for his reg season career.
Play offs 132 pt pace.

"Marner makes 2.5 mill a year more than Draisaitl".

Haaaa!

No idea.. I'm a Matthews fan and not hater. In his case...he is surrounded by elite forwards too. It is strange for sure.

Leafs seem to have 3 issues..

1. Goalie problems (I wouldn't expect will or Samsonov to win 16 playoff games)
2. The wrong kind of D year after year
3. The big boys all shrink. Nylander with 3 goals is their best playoff performer (and he was good but watch that pasta game wining goal and where he is.lol)

Maybe a better D improves the forwards? If they can move one of the forwards for a stud D it may be all that is needed.

And they all have NMCs.

The window is closing or closed IMO. And I hope they can figure it out.

Wanna hear something funny?

Somewhere in an alternate universe, the Leafs won last night and you called out Bruins fans for making the excuse of not having a legit #1 center and a shit coach that never wins in the playoffs.

Don’t be salty with us, bruh. Direct your anger at the Leafs where it belongs.

He left a decent core. They hired the wrong guy to fill out the rest of the team
Matthews scores a ton and is fine (though he doesn't do so well in the playoffs). Marner puts up points and vanishes in the playoffs. Nylander is good, but overpaid. Tavares is done as a top line player. Reilly can provide offence but not much D. They combine to make, what, 60 million a year?? You can't build the rest of the team. The core is the problem. Dubas gave out those contracts (and set the precedent). They have no hope until they can get rid of at least 3 of those core players and try to build around Matthews and Nylander. Another rebuild.

People. It has nothing to do with the leafs core or samsonov, or the fact they don't have a "top D."
NHL hockey is very unpredictable and hard to win. That goal was a set play, that would fool Nick Lidstrom.
What's fascinating is the Sherlock Holmes pursuit of explanations for Leafs losses, which stems from the belief that they always deserve to win, and only lose by sabotage, within and without.
