Leafs do it to themselves.

Needed Samsonov to win one game. He couldn’t. That final goal where he just stood there frozen when he could have easily poked the puck away is all you need to know.

Another disaster season down the drain

Congrats Boston
That wasn't a goaltending issues.

Your stars were no shows, where was your top paid players in game 7?

Marner rielly and nylander were both just standing around on the last goal, but samsonov gets the blame…. When 1 of the best goal scorers in the league gets a 1 on 1 vs you lol

I wouldn't say that it's 100% that Marner is done in Toronto. They have to first convince him to waive his NMC and from the sounds of it, in the past he wants to stay in Toronto. But if he was a good person, he would waive it for the sake of the team and himself to move on to a new path in his career.

nylander seems like the guy most likely to want to leave…

Imo the team took a step back from previous years when they lost to top contending teams. And the standings reflected that.
Comments by the core that ‘they were right there’ miss the point. They aren’t anywhere close to the top contenders and are getting further away from that group. If the goal is to win the Cup, they are going in the wrong direction.

The fact of the matter is that the guys Toronto have put all their money into are not guys who have what it takes to win in the playoffs. This core have been together for mostly 8 years now. What we see is what they are. No amount of excuses can change that.

They may be good hockey players who can put up a better than .500 record during the regular season. But come playoff time most of the key players buckle under the pressure. None of them have what it takes. They aren't willing to lay it all on the line for a win. They won't go into the dirty areas for those greasy goals and they shy away from those gritty battles. They are nothing more than fragile diva's with huge egos.

On Marner, I can't believe that guy get's close to $11M. He sure bent Toronto over the barrel on that contract. He is the very definitions of a creampuff. He could have had that open net when the BOS goalie gifted him the puck behind the net but instead of taking it and heading to the front of the net he decided to swing around all because he wasn't willing to take the hit that would have been waiting for him after scoring. They even talked about it during intermission how he likely had a goal if he was willing to take the hit. He wasn't. Marner was probably the biggest joke the entire series. An $11M winger who looked scared and intimidated every game.

It's funny that Tavares is taking so much flak because he was the only high earner I saw throwing himself into every battle. The rest of the top earners looked like boys playing against men. Toronto will likely continue to have regular season success with this core but come playoff time the same results will occur. Most of the top players don't have what it takes to withstand a playoff run.

Toronto stars lack of emotion and heart, really make you appreciate guys like Mcdavid and eichel

Samsonov played well IMO.
He did great. Not his fault on the last goal that Marner was lost and an elite player was able to pull off a great move and lift the puck just enough to get the goal. He and the D did their job in limiting Boston in regulation. Also, Swayman simply was the best player in the series. Best Boston goalie performance statistically in a series since Thomas. That's massive.

Maybe...Maybe not

The Bs have played well against the Panthers this season. I never expected the Bs to get this far so it is all good.

It’s a solid match up, and Boston should have revenge on their mind…. Shouldn’t be a struggle to get up for Florida

Imagine a team with
Mackinnon, Pettersson, Panarin, and McDavid scoring 12 goals in 7 games. That is how the leafs top 4 are paid. Blaming anybody but those 4 guys is ludicrous
To be fair, nylander really did show up this series, the others either had a headache, were crying, or too old and slow to help out at all

Bertuzzi didn’t piss away a 3-1 series lead this year.
You’re absolutely right. He didn’t. I stand corrected.

Posts like this are what happens when you get up too early and post without enough sleep. Bertuzzi did NOT piss away a 3-1 series lead. He WAS on the losing end of both First Round Game 7s at the Garden between this year and last.
