What's the opposite of toxic masculinity...?

Toxic Femininity...?

Dunno.

When I search "toxic feminity" on Google it brings up tons of stuff like this:

"Toxic femininity is a broad term that refers to a rigid and repressive definition of womanhood, including pressures women face to restrict themselves to stereotypically feminine traits and characteristics.

"Toxic femininity refers to the adherence to the gender binary in order to receive conditional value in patriarchal societies. It is a concept that restricts women to being cooperative, passive, sexually submissive, gentle, and deriving their value from physical beauty while being pleasing to men."

I think the opposite of 'toxic masculinity' is probably just getting rid of the toxic part. So if "Toxic masculinity involves cultural pressures for men to behave in a certain way. And it’s likely this affects all boys and men in some fashion. Toxic masculinity refers to the notion that some people’s idea of “manliness” perpetuates domination, homophobia, and aggression."

Then, I'd guess that getting rid of the cultural pressures and domination and aggression would be the opposite of toxic masculinity. You can probably search better than I can, unless you were just asking to make a point and give her the win.

People here lament some of the posters who've disappeared. We've lost Pandemonia and RinkMom. And I'd rather not lose any more. And I'd rather get back to reading about hockey instead of this crap.

Maybe you can search better than I can and find something to assauge your hurt feelings.
Yes thank you... you helped me understand something...

When it's a man being a man it's toxic and it's real to women...

When it's a woman being a new age woman, men's feelings are hurt... conduct of women isn't expected to be real for men...

Hmmm... interesting...

If you understand that "a man being a man is toxic" then no, you don't understand me at all.

But can we just get back to talking hockey?

Sadly its not Wheezers last year, Jets have this flailing senior locked up until the end of 24'!

You could have two decent players in the lineup with his ridiculous contract!

With the way salaries work and the CAP almost EVERY team ends up with an albatross contract. It is the cost of having a very good player heading to UFA. It would have been dumb to let Wheeler walk for free. And trading him at the time would have made the team a lot worse. He was a top 5 RW league wide at the time of the signing.

Actually, toxic masculinity was cited by 2 women for why they left here.
I seem to recall that bruhaha was all over the use of the "plain Jane" image in GDT?

So if it's "toxic masculinity" to appreciate that pic, what is all the gushing over how hot Axel Jonsson-Fjällby is? Toxic femininity? Should I ragequit HFBoard because of those comments?

EDIT: Read your earlier post defining terms. Definitely not "toxic femininity", so I guess it's just acceptable behaviour then?

Appleton brings almost nothing to the top line. He doesn't aid in transition, and has less than 1/4 the scoring touch of Scheifele and Connor. 55 carried the line last night. He can't do it by himself with 2 anchors around his neck.
You are calling Kyle Connor an anchor? LOL

No, I think the Plain Jane image lead to a larger discussion which prompted a lot of really unfortunate comments. I can only cite 2 cases of women leaving because I talked to them in private chats and was shown some of the abuse they were sent privately.

Not sure why you're saying "definitely not toxic feminity" when that's the definition that comes up repeatedly in a Google search. So, I guess your guess is wrong then?

PS: the gushing over the guy with the long hair came from both genders. Just saying...

Perhaps you can go back and read that the term was "toxic masculinity".

Perhaps you can check the definition of 'toxic masculinity' on Google.

But I doubt that you will.

Some problems are not unique to Hockey Canada.
You don't know me at all, and you are already making inaccurate assumptions about me. You should consider revisiting that bias.

There was sarcasm in my post, so let me be more precise. I am not suprised that there is masculity in a hockey forum. That's what I said. Do you disagree with that opinion? I can't tell from your response.

In my experience you will find it across gladiator sport internet forums where there is a large number of participants. We are talking about an online forum here where anyone can opine. Hockey has long been considered a gladiator sport. A large number of participants will pretty much ensure that you have the full spectrum of opinions and masculinity represented.

My opinion - Google is the wrong place for people to seek out the definition of toxic masculinity. Or Toxic Femininity, or Toxic Humanity. These terms are very difficult to actually define and google will give you many different definitions. If you want to discuss this further, send me a PM with your specific defnintion of Toxic Masculinity so I am not forced to make broad, inacurate assumptions about what you mean. Then I will give you my very precise opinion on your definition. I would say just reply here, but this thread is not about toxic humanity.

Because of the insinuation, let me be clear: I am not condoning toxic masculinity (broadly defined). Any form of toxic humanity - people should seek to modify their behavior on their own or with help. I am stating my simple opinion that you can expect to find masculinity in an online hockey forum. That's it. If you disagree with that statement, I suspect that you will be disapointed when you visit hockey or other gladiator sports forums and find a full spectrum of masculinity represented there too. Remember the context here - this is the internet.

As I understood your definition of "toxic femininity" it sounded like that would be women being basically pretty and quiet. So joking about cheating on their husbands with Axel wouldn't exactly meat that definition.

At the end of the day, my brain is incapable of the contortions and gymnastics to make any of this make sense in terms of the definitions and what's allowed to be said and not allowed to be said.

I of course deplore any abuse that people received privately. Didn't personally see anything in public on the forum.

Back to the game ... I'm hoping that we are finally seeing "Bowness Hockey" and if so, this bodes well and if the Jets keep playing like this going forward we will win more that we lose and be entertaining every game. So I'm all for that.

Yep it was all my fault but i stopped doing the Plain Jane GDT's .
Not your fault at all. And I thought the Plain Jane looked delicious. I'll reserve my opinion about weather or not she was a good luck charm to the team.

The problem came long after. Somebody pointed out that Jane was actually a porn actress and then other folks got their back up and away it all went.

Kinda like a post-whistle scrum in front of the net when you think about it. Which is what we should be talking about here.

Question: Do you think that Simmons finally being penalized for one his 'after the whistle bits of sh#t" that he often pulls will have any effect on his play?

The unfortunate part was i did it purely based on humor nothing else. The girl was dressed nice and was very pretty hence Plain Jane.

I guess i should have looked into who she was but i thought the gif was funny with Quagmire staring in the window and she was dressed nice.

As someone who is jumping into the GDT a little late, I'm not sure how the discussion got onto "toxic masculinity", but I just watched the highlight package and it looked like the Jets had a great game!

Seemed like Connor had a number of good looks despite not reaching the back of the net yet. Perfetti looked great too, so I think it's only a matter of time before that line starts clicking.
