Hyman is the better player, but he is also signed for a year longer, .5 million higher AAV, and has more of an injury history.

If the question is "who is the better player" or "who would you pick to win this season" its easily Hyman, but if its "which player (contracts considered) would you rather add to your team", then its close.

I'm happy having Hyman in Edmonton. I'm sure Calgary is happy with Coleman. I would have been happy with Coleman as well, ha ha. I don't think there is much gap here, both teams got a good player.

I'll take Coleman. He's only slightly worse offensively while being much better defensively. He may be one of the most underrated guys in the NHL.

I'd take Hyman today at their current cap hits, but I'd take Coleman on their entire contracts, because they're not that far apart and I think he will age better and he has one less year.

Contracts aside I would easily have Hyman over Coleman, Hyman is similar to Gourde with a non-stop motor except he's in a 6'1 frame. Coleman is overrated because of the system and the Lightning being cup winners, he's nowhere near as good "defensively" as people think he is, he was one of the worst forwards in terms of defensive zone giveaways and boneheaded plays.

He's good on the PK but people attribute that to being good at 5v5 defense, Goodrow on the other hand is a stellar defensive forward.
