Will the players ever be named if the case is against the guy who's running the thing?

f***.

I can hope is that they are no longer members of the teams.

Edit: I hope that they find the people doing this and put them the f*** away in prison. I hope that they can get help for the people impacted by this. I apologize for an off-the-cuff comment in a moment of protectionism. It's so f***ing hard to like either of these teams and it's just become that much harder to do so.

And of course that the teams take actions if there are still individuals on them implicated in this. There is no place in the community for this. None.

You would find allegations like this against every major sports team, police department, corporation etc. if more people spoke up. It's insane what people with even just a few million to their name can buy, get up higher and it starts getting real scary. Friend of a friend is a security guard for someone worth (only) $50 Million or so. Not a good looking out of shape man that goes through multiple envelopes filled with cash each week to spend some alone time with whatever underage girl he has flown in from Europe/South America. I heard about this about a decade ago way before any of the recent news broke. I don't even want to think about what is going to be revealed across the world in the next few years. And it's going to happen.

wealthy people/celebrities/athletes use escort services? stop the presses.

sad and gross, and not to be callous, but its not like this is anything new in the world of the 'elite' and certainly not unique to 'Buffalo athletes'. Probably happens in any hotel nightly everywhere in the world.

Can players be held accountable for anything? It seems like they just contracted her out for the night they werent actually apart of the sex ring or am I misreading it?

With escorts, you pay for their time, you already know ahead of time what you're paying for because she has all the authority in what she is willing to do. You're essentially just paying for consent.

If you paid someone else who forced her to do things then that's completely different because it's most likely against her will.

Call me crazy, but I’m far more concerned that the people involved in taking advantage of these women are caught and taken care of.

It’s nothing new for pro athletes to get with escorts, this situation is only different because they were trafficked. They likely had no choice. I’d also like to think that any players involved had no idea that was the case

Did you read the article? The guy once hit her so hard that she wet herself, and then poured water on her while she just sat there. She was heavily abused, from the sounds of it. Not exactly a high end “escort service” kind of operation.

I also just realized that some of this was taking place at the harbor center Marriott. So... like semi-recent.

Like @Chainshot said, I just hope that none of the players involved are still on the team. This is very, very bad.

I'd imagine a lot of the time they are trafficked out without the receiving client knowing what's going on. Some of the sex trafficking that goes on in the US starts when at risk youth gets on the wrong side of the police. They are used as currency to blackmail more powerful and wealthy people. Who then use them to do the same to the next person on ladder. Not saying that's what went on here. But the police officer who just got caught doing this SIXTY times and the other police officer earlier this year who did it over 40 times are likely just the tip of the iceberg.

Oh man, that dude that's pimping those women needs to go away for a long time. Mentally and physically abusing people who are at their lowest point in life is incredibly f***ed up.

As for Sabres/Bills players buying escorts? Stupid and selfish shit to do, but I believe there is a lot of ignorance towards human trafficking. How often do you see any education on it? In their minds they're just paying someone for sex, but in reality they're paying someone for sex, which brings money to a pimp who abuses women to keep them in his control.

I give a ton of respect to any person who has ever been a victim of trafficking pointing the finger at the main culprits. It takes a ton of courage. They're going up against corporate giants hoping their message will get heard and awareness will be spread.

I understand that but this seems like an escort service gone wrong. The woman were paid directly from the client which if she accepted the money is basically consent. It's this Shine guy who tried to act like a shady pimp and beat the girl or girls down and degrade them. It doesnt sound like it's a case against an entire operation where they go for clientele as well to prosecute or testify as witnesses. This seems like a black and white case against a shady pimp service gone bad.

What I fail to understand is if they were in this service against their will or on their own volition?

Age is also a big factor is the seriousness against clients. If the ladies were minors then this case is really bad.

A part of me is hoping this tied into the Russ Brandon Fiasco and this is the backlash and that Kim firing him removed the whole issue from a One Buffalo perspective and doesn't apply today. If this is more recent than that, then there is a lot that needs to be done to clean the Sabres and Bills.
